BREAKING: Joint Statement from FEU, DLSU, UST, ADMU on the accusations of Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr on schools being recruitment havens of the CPP/NPA

According to news reports, Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr of the NTF-ELCAC issued a statement yesterday alleging that 18 universities, including ours, are recruitment havens for the New Peopleโ€™s Army. This charge, though, is really โ€œgetting oldโ€โ€”a rehash of the public accusation the general made in 2018โ€”irresponsibly since cast without proof.

We assert that: As Philippine schools, we value the Filipinosโ€™ basic Constitutional rights of speech, thought, assembly, and organization. As universities with high aspirations for our country, we seek to direct our students to engage in acts that contribute to the strengthening of social cohesion, defend the country's democratic institutions, and promote nation-building. And as institutions of higher learning that are stewards of the youth, repositories and producers of knowledge, and builders of communities, we must retain independence and autonomy from the State and other social institutions.

We therefore object to General Parladeโ€™s statement and emphasize that our institutions neither promote nor condone recruitment activities of the New People's Army and, indeed, of any movement that aims to violently overthrow the government.

We take as a sacred trust our primary responsibilities to promote learning and safeguard the rights of the young who are entrusted to our care. We are committed to this mission and have always held ourselves accountable to our primary constituents, the learners, and by extension, their parents.

During the 16th century, Britain has been categorizing homos*xual behaviour as a criminal act instead of being immoral. The Buggery Act was made to make sure every s*xual interaction between men is punishable by law through minor offenses or worse, ex*****on. But, le***an interactions were not persecuted because the patriarch deems it impossible and unimaginable for women to do such acts. You can see how they degraded a woman's ability to probe and revolutionize her s*xuality. Germany is one of the countries who condemned homos*xuality not to mention the Islam nations. At the cusp of the 18th century, homos*xual men and women were given a voice through Berlin's Scientific-Humanitarian Committee. The agency revolutionized s*x research and campaigned for repeal of the Imperial Penal Code of Germany persecuting the the homos*xuals.

On the other side of the rift, women experienced the second wave of feminism after World War II. Due to more occupations being opened that do not rely entirely on physical strength, women had the opportunity to join the service sector. Albeit all of this, the cultural attitude of the men still boxed them in a clear enclosure resulting in them wanting more of what they saw outside of it. The Second S*x by Simone de Beauvoir pummelled the masculine ego which raised awareness for feminism and how both s*xes can benefit from it as this movement progressed around the world.

The most significant movement of the homos*xual liberation occurred in New York, USA of June 28, 1969, which is famously known as "the stonewall riots". Approximately 400 people rioted on the first day followed by successions after making it the basic foundation of today's annual Gay Pride celebration. Both gay and women have liberated themselves and started to advance in political revolutions all throughout the globe. One by one, they took up positions as Prime Minister and various political positions. Some even score higher in polls.

Although several countries have legalized marriage equality, and recognizes the LGBTQ+ Community, the Philippines has a long way to go before she can fight for the equal rights of women and the LGBTQ+ Community while the SOGIE Equality Bill is yet to be passed in Congress. We call on every ally and supporter to amplify our call to uphold and protect womenโ€™s rights and LGBQT+ rights in our country. We need to ensure that our country should be a safe space for every person regardless of their SOGIESC.

Commemorating the Social Liberation of Women and Gay movement, let us continue our efforts in admonishing the barricades that prevents marriage equality, anti-discrimination against women and the LGBTQ+, and the passing of the SOGIE Equality Bill into law. We need to ensure as well that public spaces and institutions must implement the Safe Spaces Act, the Anti-Violence Against Women and the Children Act for the protection of these sectors. Let us use this celebration by peering through the kaleidoscope and spot where our current situation lies and localize such radicalization. Let us not forget that their freedom is the freedom of the entire nation. Before we raise our rainbow flags and pink fists, let us remember, LGBTQ+ rights and womenโ€™s rights are also human rights!

โ€œGay is good and god is a woman!โ€

"We can't help everyone but everyone can help"
The typhoon Ulysses has left our countrymen at a dire situation. In this time of crisis we ask for your help to aid our brethren who are left hungry, thirsty and homeless. We knock in your compassionate hearts to ask for donations. If we can spend money on our online shopping then perhaps we can spare some amount to help those in great need. Rest assured that all donations shall be given to those who are truly in need.
