The City College of Angeles encourages aspiring student leaders to take the opportunity to serve the student body through the upcoming Central Student Council Elections for Academic Year 2026–2027.

Interested candidates may now begin forming their parties and building their teams in preparation for the Filing of Certificates of Candidacy (COC) from July 13–24, 2026.

𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦 | 𝗗𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝘀 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗕𝗤𝗘, 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘀 𝗖𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗴𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝗘𝗜𝗖

July 11, 2026 — Arnalie David, an incoming third-year Bachelor of Science in Psychology (BSPsych) student and outgoing Feature Editor, claimed the top spot in the 2026 Editorial Board Qualifying Exam (EBQE) of The Phoenix. Following the results, David will succeed outgoing Editor-in-Chief (EIC) Rhica Mae Cabigting and lead the publication for the upcoming academic year.

The publication's outgoing Editorial Board (EdBoard)—EIC Cabigting, Associate Editor in Creative Communications (AECC) Trisha Mae Tamayo, Associate Editor in Writing (AEW) Cindy Cardenas, Managing Editor (ManEd) Calagne Castro, and Head Layout Artist (HLA) Archell De Guzman—announced the results on July 6, revealing that David bested the 13 other examinees with a stellar rating of 91.74 percent.

Ranking second was Rain Ethel Cabrera, a Bachelor of Arts in English Language Studies (BAELS) student and artist, who earned an overall rating of 86.06 percent, securing the Associate Editor position. Meanwhile, Eunice Raia Dela Cruz, another incoming third-year BSPsych student and outgoing Head of Broadcasting and Digital Media, placed third with a score of 81.65 percent, earning the Managing Editor position.

The outgoing EdBoard spearheaded the two-day EBQE for eligible The Phoenix members with at least one year of membership on June 23 and 24, 2026. The exam consisted of three components: Editorial Writing and Literacy (news, feature, and column writing), Technical Skills & Editing (proofreading and layout test), and an Interview that assessed their knowledge of journalism ethics and leadership and management. The examination was then carefully reviewed and evaluated by a panel to ensure a fair and objective selection process.

As stipulated in Article V, Section 1 of The Phoenix Constitution and By-Laws, editors and section heads may be appointed based on the results of the EBQE, the peer evaluation conducted among The Phoenix members every semester, and the list of recomendees from the outgoing Editorial Board.

Joining the incoming EdBoard are Daniel Posadas as News & Literary Editor, Ayesha Faye Calma as Feature Editor, Christian John Sedigo as Head Photojournalist, Arrel Zarate as Head Artist, Adrian Mark Canlas as Head Layout Artist, and Tricia Khay Sneider as Head of Broadcasting and Digital Media Team.

The newly appointed EdBoard will assume leadership of The Phoenix for Academic Year 2026-2027, continuing the publication's commitment to the pursuit of the truth, serving as the steward of the truth, and embodying the truth with honor and excellence.

The wait is over! The City College of Angeles is ready to welcome all Angeleños as classes officially begin on Monday, July 13, 2026.

To mark the start of the new academic year, all students, faculty, and personnel are requested to assemble at the College Gate at 7:45 AM for the Ceremonial Opening of the Gates. This will be followed by the Flag Raising Ceremony at 8:00 AM, as the CCA community comes together in unity to officially open Academic Year 2026–2027.

Let us begin this new chapter with enthusiasm, excellence, and a shared commitment to uphold the values of the Institution of Hope.

As part of your official welcome to the CCA community, the PAMANANGGAP: A Ceremonial Welcome for Freshmen and General Orientation will be conducted from July 14 to 17, 2026.

All freshmen are requested to arrive at the CCA Bulwagang Angeleño at least thirty (30) minutes before their assigned schedule to allow ample time for registration and attendance.

𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬

The City College of Angeles (CCA) and the Kundiman Club of Angeles Inc. (KCOAI) formally sealed their partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), reaffirming their shared commitment to making quality education more accessible to deserving students.

Through this collaboration, the "Tulong Pantawid Edukasyon" Program will provide monthly financial assistance to qualified and disadvantaged CCA students. The College's Community Extension Office, in coordination with the Scholarship and Grants Section, will facilitate the identification of beneficiaries, oversee the distribution of monthly allowances, and monitor the implementation of the program to ensure that students receive sustained educational support.

The MOA was signed by Dr. Janet B. Lazatin, College President, on behalf of the City College of Angeles, together with the officers of the Kundiman Club of Angeles Inc., led by Mr. Arnel DG. Torres, President, and Ms. Lillora C. Hipolito. This partnership reflects the collective commitment of both institutions to empowering learners and opening more opportunities through education.

The City College of Angeles extends its sincere gratitude to the Kundiman Club of Angeles Inc. for its generosity, trust, and unwavering support for the education of deserving Angeleño students. 𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The City College of Angeles successfully conducted its Annual General Assembly on July 8, 2026, bringing together faculty members, administrators, and personnel in preparation for the upcoming Academic Year 2026–2027.

The assembly served as a venue to reaffirm the College's mission and vision, present institutional updates and development initiatives, recognize outstanding service, welcome new and returning personnel, and strengthen the shared commitment to delivering quality education guided by the principle of placing learners at the heart of every endeavor.

As one CCA community, we continue to move forward in pursuit of excellence through Totalis Humanae.
