would like to express our deepest gratitude to our beloved Missionary, Dr. Kwon Young Han, and his wife, Samonim Ok Lee.
To our dear pastors, brothers and sisters, for your information, Missionary Dr. Young Han Kwon and his wife Missionary Young Ok Lee have served as Korean missionaries in the Philippines since June 1991, dedicating more than 35 years to Christian education, leadership development, church planting, and humanitarian outreach.
Early Mission Work
Their ministry began during the aftermath of the 1991 Mt. Pinatubo eruption, when thousands of families were displaced.
Without financial sponsors, they personally initiated feeding and Gospel ministries in evacuation centers in Concepcion, Tarlac, providing food for hungry children and spiritual encouragement to affected families.
This ministry later expanded to outreach among the Aeta indigenous mountain tribes, resulting in the establishment of six tribal churches that continue to serve their communities today.
Christian Education Leadership
Dr. Kwon has focused on raising spiritual leaders who will transform society through the Gospel.
In 1996, he founded a small Bible training institute with only five students in a rented house. This institution eventually developed into Philippine International College (PIC).
In 2010, he also established Rechab Academy, a Christian Kโ12 school that provides faith-based education from kindergarten to senior high school.
Today, the combined student population of Philippine International College and Rechab Academy is approximately 1,500 students.
Church Planting and Community Impact
Many graduates of PIC have planted churches across the Philippines.
Dr. Kwon and Missionary Lee have supported the construction of over 150 churches, which has contributed to the formation of the Philippine Evangelical Holiness Church denomination, now consisting of approximately 450 churches nationwide.
Their community outreach also includes:
Expansion support for four correctional facilities
Regular prison feeding and Gospel ministry
Establishment of Lawan Christian Village on Camiguin Island
Construction of homes for 20 homeless families and a community church
