CSU APARRI, UB EXPLORE COLLABORATION IN HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM EDUCATION
Cagayan State University Aparri Campus and the University of Baguio explored potential areas of collaboration in hospitality and tourism education during an inception meeting held today September 15, via Zoom Conferencing.
The virtual meeting brought together Dean Jenelyn M. Magpatoc, MHRD, of the University of Baguio-School of International Hospitality and Tourism Management (SIHTM) and CSU Aparri representatives led by Dr. Policarpio L. Mabborang Jr., Campus Executive Officer, Dr. Rexcel Braceros, Dean of the College of Hospitality Management, and Mr. Evan Fred Battung, Campus Domestic and International Partnership Focal Person, along with faculty members and other campus officials.
Initiated by CSUA-CHM, the meeting aimed to finalize the proposed scope and coverage of collaboration between the two institutions and identify areas where their respective expertise and resources could complement each other.
The discussion provided an avenue for both institutions to exchange insights and explore possible collaborative initiatives in hospitality and tourism education, particularly those that may contribute to faculty development, academic enhancement, student learning experiences, and professional growth.
During the meeting, Dean Magpatoc also appealed for the UB-SIHTM to be considered in possible externally funded projects and institutional linkages, recognizing these areas as opportunities where the School could further improve and strengthen its capabilities.
The appeal opened another potential dimension of the partnership, allowing both institutions to explore opportunities for collaboration beyond academic activities, particularly in external funding, project development, research and extension initiatives, and institutional networking.
The proposed partnership underscores CSU Aparri’s continuing commitment to strengthening its academic linkages and pursuing strategic collaborations with established higher education institutions to enhance the quality and relevance of its programs.
Through the initial discussions, CSUA-CHM and UB-SIHTM laid the groundwork for a potential partnership that could foster knowledge exchange, capacity building, innovation, and shared learning opportunities in the hospitality and tourism sector.
The inception meeting marks an important first step toward establishing a mutually beneficial collaboration, with both institutions looking forward to further discussions and concrete initiatives that will benefit their faculty members, students, and stakeholders.
