Dr. Junifer Rey E. Tabafunda, Chancellor of DMMMSUโ€“North La Union Campus; Dr. Alvin Malicdem, Chancellor of DMMMSUโ€“Mid La Union Campus; Dr. Isidro Duran, Chancellor of DMMMSUโ€“South La Union Campus; and Dr. Alvin John L. Coloma, DMMMSU alumnus and newly licensed physician, were honored by the Provincial Government of La Union for their achievements and service to higher education, public health, and institutional excellence.

The commendation was conveyed through a resolution of the 24th Sangguniang Panlalawigan of La Union, led by Governor Mario Eduardo C. Ortega and Vice Governor Eric O. Sibuma, during its regular session at the Speaker Pro Tempore Francisco I. Ortega Provincial Legislative Building and Session Hall in the City of San Fernando, La Union. The three Chancellors and Dr. Coloma received their awards at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session Hall on May 19, 2026.

The training aimed to empower local entrepreneurs and cooperatives by enhancing their knowledge and skills in todayโ€™s digital economy. The activity was jointly organized by the College of Information Systems, in collaboration with the Colleges of Information Technology and Computer Science across campuses, enabling both online and onsite participation.

In partnership with Catalyste+, the seminar featured ๐Œ๐ฌ. ๐‚๐š๐ซ๐ฆ๐ž๐ง ๐†๐š๐ ๐ง๐จ๐ง as the resource speaker. Drawing from over four decades of experience, she delivered valuable insights on the development and application of point-of-sale and automated management (POSAM) systems, highlighting their relevance in real-world industry contexts.

The training emphasized the integration of project management and systems development, particularly in enhancing the capstone and thesis projects of the students. It also reinforced collaboration among campuses and strengthened global engagement through international partnership.

This initiative reflects the continued commitment of the participating colleges to deliver relevant, outcomes-based, and globally responsive education for future-ready graduates.
