With hearts filled with happiness, satisfaction, and gratification, the graduates of the University of Negros Occidental- Recoletos Class of 2023 felt a new sense of exuberance as they reached the final step of their academic cruise during the epoch-making 77th Commencement Exercises held June 17 at the University Amphitheater
Accompanied by the proud parents, the graduating students entered the University Amphitheater with bright faces and beaming smiles. Eyes of the proud parents glistened with happy tears as anticipation and pride takes ahold of them, reflecting the same sentiments as the graduates.

The 77th Commencement Exercises kicked off with the Procession of Colors, Honorees, Graduates, Faculty Members and Program Heads, Directors and Office Heads, Deans, School Board, Board of Trustees, and President. Ensuing the procession, the Deans took the stage, and with beaming hearts and pride, presented the graduate candidates. The University President, Fr. Joel Alve, OAR, then led the conferment of degrees, sealing the graduateโ€™s dreams, and putting a period on their academic journey. Academic and non-academic awards, such as special honors, loyalty awards, and institutional honors, were given to students who had excelled in their dedication to their studies.

Hereโ€™s to the Class of 2023, on making dreams come true.

Together with the Order of Augustinian Recollect Priests, Deans of respective Colleges, Faculty members, and Graduates, the 2023 Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2022-2023, was held on June 13 at the University Oratory.

The Baccalaureate Mass was presided by the University President, Rev. Fr. Joel Alve OAR, who gave a sincere and strongly felt message for the graduates which evolved around the idea of not always seeking for visibility and recognition, as it can dull the shine of oneโ€™s true impact.

The mass was then followed by the Imposition of Hood, having Ms. Yzi D. Oquindo, a criminology graduate, as the representative who gave a beautifully worded speech. Awards towards the Outstanding Graduates was then given.

The home of the Vanguards, led by the CCJE Governor Elgen Joseph Bermeo in collaboration with the CCJE Student Council Officers and Students Interns, conducted the University's long-standing tradition of hunting for signatures, otherwise known as Block Master List.

The activity aims to bridge the relationship between first-year students and seniors by making the freshmen interact and get to know their seniors and student leaders.

This long-standing tradition emphasizes the importance of keeping them as one, which makes working together more accessible.

"BML is an exciting activity because it gives us insights into how seniors conquer their freshmen years. We learned from their stories, from their mistakes, and also it helped us to be a better person by knowing them," said Quinnbrein Chavez, BS Criminology student from P14.

The College Of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) conducted its first Physical Fitness Exercise (PFT) for the second semester on February 1, 2023, at 6:00 AM at the University Field.

The Criminology students executed the Dozen Exercises with vigor and enthusiasm, notwithstanding the wet fields of UNO-R. Herold Dorado led the PFT together with the council officers.

The Physical Fitness Exercise activity encourages students to be active, manage their weight, develop their stamina, and improve their physical health. The weekly exercises aim to tighten the slack and polish the Criminology students' spirit in preparation for their training.

"The PFT got delayed and started a little late because of the rain, but it didn't hinder us from stopping executing [the exercises]," said Keanna Lei J. Montecido, BS Criminology student from P16.
