Last October 24, 2025, Deaf and PWD participants from Victorias City had the opportunity to learn basic macramรฉ techniques, creating stylish belts and sling bags from scratch. Under the guidance of Venus Segura of Segura Arts and Craft Manufacturing, they have developed new crafting skills that spark creativity, confidence, and livelihood potential.

This FREE and inclusive training was held at Biancaโ€™s Inn, Victorias City, as part of Negros Design Week: Bacolod with the theme โ€œRooted.โ€
They have shown that when individuals are given the chance to learn, grow, and express their artistry hands become more skillful, ideas become more inspired, and voices become louder through craft.

More than a workshop, this became a space where abilities were celebrated and creativity became a tool for empowerment. โœจ

As we wrap up an inspiring week of creativity and collaboration, our NDWโ€“Bacolod Head, Kate Singson, traveled to Dumaguete to attend a series of insightful fashion talks highlighting sustainability, preserving culture, and uplifting Filipino craftsmanship.

It was a pleasure to meet and learn from some of the best of the best in Philippine fashion Len Cabili of Filip+Inna, Steffi Cua of Idyllic Summer, Dan Duran and of course Vanessa Gaston, the founder of Negros Design Week whose vision brought this entire movement to life.Their passion for elevating local artistry continues to inspire many of us to keep creating with purpose.

This week has been all about empowering our local artisans, embracing innovation, and honoring the heritage that shapes our identity. Hereโ€™s to continuously building a future where design thrives alongside culture. โœจ
