The CHMSU-FT Library, in partnership with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP), conducted a financial literacy program for third-year Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) students on September 9, 2026, at the Audio-Visual Room (AVR).
The program opened with a prayer, followed by the singing of the national anthem. Afterwards, Princess Ann Delos Reyes, Junior Financial Executives (JFINEX) President, walked the participants through the program flow and introduced the guest speaker. Mr. Conrad Albela, JFINEX Adviser, then delivered the welcoming remarks, acknowledging the importance of the event for students in navigating their journey to their program.
In the first session, Ms. Roannvi T. Villarojo, Bank Officer IV and Regional Economic Affairs Staff of BSP Visayas Regional Office, proceeded to the basics of savings, budgeting, investing, and debt management. During this, she highlighted financial planning, the difference between saving and investing, budgeting and expense tracking, and the responsible use of credit cards, giving students practical knowledge on how to make informed financial decisions and manage their money responsibly.
Later that afternoon, session two opened with an icebreaker activity to energize the students. The session focused on digital payments, common types of fraud and scams, and cyber hygiene practices that students can apply in their daily lives. Throughout the discussion, Villarojo emphasized safer digital financial transactions and the protection of personal information, encouraging students to stay alert and be on guard against common fraud and scam attempts. In turn, students shared their own experiences and knowledge of online transactions and money transfers.
To close the program, Mr. Albela, together with Mr. Prince Fidel Flores, College Librarian, presented a certificate of appreciation to Ms. Roannvi T. Villarojo. Mr. Flores then delivered his closing remarks, conveying his appreciation to the students for their active participation.
