The Research and Development Office successfully completed the ISO TÜV SÜD Stage 2 Audit, with its processes and documented procedures demonstrating conformity with quality management requirements and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.

Reinforcing the University's commitment to cultivating a strong research culture, Dr. Marisa B. Petalla, Director of the Research and Development Office (RDO), served as the Resource Speaker during the seminar "UNO-R Research Culture: Making, Mentoring and Coaching," conducted on July 25, 2026, at Room SA020, University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos.

Organized by the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE), the seminar gathered faculty members and researchers in a meaningful discussion on strengthening research competence, fostering a culture of mentorship, and promoting scholarly excellence within the academic community.

Drawing from her extensive experience in research leadership, Dr. Petalla shared valuable insights on developing impactful research, mentoring emerging researchers, and sustaining a collaborative research environment that advances both institutional and community development.

Through engagements such as this, the Research and Development Office continues to champion research capacity-building initiatives that empower educators and researchers to produce quality, relevant, and socially responsive scholarship.

The Research and Development Office (RDO) proudly joined the 56th Founding Anniversary Celebration of the Negros Economic Development Foundation (NEDF), held on July 24, 2026, at the NEDF Mansilingan Farm, Bacolod City.

During the celebration, University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos, Incorporated received a Plaque of Recognition in appreciation of its continued partnership and support for NEDF's mission of promoting sustainable development and community empowerment. The recognition reflects the University's commitment to working with partner institutions in initiatives that create meaningful impact.

The event also recognized Dr. Marisa Petalla, Research Director, who was awarded a Certificate of Recognition for her leadership and dedication in conducting the study, "From Farmers to Stewards: A Qualitative Study of the NEDF SWATH Experience." Her research has contributed valuable insights into the impact of NEDF's programs and the experiences of the communities it serves.

These recognitions stand as a testament to the enduring partnership between UNOR and NEDF, where research, collaboration, and shared purpose continue to create meaningful change. 📚 UNO-R Strengthens Mixed Methods Research Capability Through National Training-Workshop

Continuing its commitment to advancing research excellence and scholarly innovation, the Research and Development Office (RDO), together with the University's Research Coordinators, participated in the Training Workshop on Designing and Publishing Mixed Methods Research in High-Impact Journals conducted by the Asian Society of Teachers for Research, Inc. (ASTR) on July 8–10, 2026, at Castle Peak Hotel, Cebu City.

The three-day intensive training equipped participants with advanced knowledge and practical competencies in designing, conducting, analyzing, and publishing rigorous mixed methods research. Sessions covered the philosophical foundations of mixed methods, research design selection, integration of quantitative and qualitative data, ethical research practices, responsible use of artificial intelligence in research, and strategies for publishing in reputable, peer-reviewed, and high-impact journals.

As emerging research methodologies continue to reshape scholarly inquiry, the participation of the RDO and the University's Research Coordinators reinforces UNO-R's commitment to cultivating a research ecosystem that embraces innovation, methodological rigor, and global research standards.

Through continuous faculty development and capacity-building initiatives, UNO-R remains steadfast in empowering its research leaders to produce impactful, interdisciplinary, and internationally relevant scholarship that responds to the evolving needs of academia and society.

Dr. Marisa B. Petalla, Director of the Research and Development Office (RDO) of the University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos, served as a Resource Speaker and Facilitator during the Research Trainings Program for School Year 2026–2027 of Bacolod Tay Tung High School, Inc. on June 19, 2026.

The training program was designed to strengthen the research capabilities of faculty members, research advisers, and school personnel by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct, guide, evaluate, and utilize research effectively.

Drawing from her extensive experience in educational research and research management, Dr. Petalla facilitated discussions on research foundations, educational research processes, research methodologies and designs, data gathering and analysis techniques, research ethics, and the utilization of research findings for instructional enhancement and school improvement.

The engagement reflects the continuing commitment of the Research and Development Office to promote research excellence and extend its expertise beyond the University through meaningful collaborations and capacity-building initiatives with educational institutions.

🌱 𝗨𝗡𝗢-𝗥 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝟯𝟯𝗿𝗱 𝗣𝗦𝗘𝗥𝗘 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲

The University of Negros Occidental–Recoletos (UNO-R) proudly showcased its commitment to sustainability, innovation, and research excellence at the 33rd Philippine Society for Educational Research and Evaluation (PSERE) National Conference, held on May 20–22, 2026, at Centro Escolar University, Manila.

Anchored on the theme “Responsible Stewardship Toward a Smart Planet,” the conference gathered researchers, educators, and environmental advocates from across the country to explore innovative solutions for climate action, environmental sustainability, and responsible stewardship in an increasingly technology-driven world.

Representing UNO-R, Dr. Marisa B. Petalla, Director of the Research and Development Office (RDO), presented her paper entitled “From Farmers to Stewards: A Qualitative Study of the NEDF Swath Project Experience.” The study examined the transformative experiences of participants in the NEDF Swath Project, highlighting how community-based initiatives cultivate environmental awareness, social responsibility, and sustainable practices among local stakeholders.

Joining Dr. Petalla at the conference were Dr. Dennis V. Madrigal, Dean of the Recoletos de Bacolod Graduate School (RBGS); Dr. Araceli Doromal, Program Head of the EdD and PhD Programs; and Dr. Joel Bual, Part Time Professor. Their participation reflects UNO-R’s strong culture of scholarly engagement and its continued pursuit of research that addresses pressing societal and environmental concerns.

Through active participation in national research forums such as PSERE, UNO-R continues to contribute meaningful scholarship that promotes sustainable development, responsible stewardship, and evidence-based solutions for contemporary challenges.
