BRIEF HISTORY OF THE COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
The College of Education, then Institute of Industrial Teacher Education started its course offerings in 1957. It was July, 1986 when the education curriculum leading to the degree Bachelor of Science in Industrial Education majors in Shop Work, Industrial Arts and Mathematics was offered. the first batch of BSIE graduates were conferred their degrees in
April 1969. On May 13, 1987 Don Honorio Ventura Memorial School of Arts (DHVMSAT) was converted into a state college. It was also on this same historic date the Institute of Industrial Teacher Education first had its head. Santos as the Head of the Academic Instruction and Mr. Gadiang, Head, Shop Instruction. In 1989, the BSIE program was phased out to give way to the BSED curriculum major in Home Economics and Technology with CHED Order BR # 9, s. 1989. To address the pressing need of various schools in the province for more Industrial Education teachers, the College decided to re offer BSIE and BSIT major in Shop Technology in 1992 with CHED Order BR # 14, s. 1992. The Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) major in Edukasyong Pantahanan at Pangkabuhayan (EPP) was offered in 2002, the same year when Dr. Laurencia N. Villanueva retired as Dean after 13 uninterrupted years in service. Rubio served as concurrent Dean of the Institute May 2002 untl September 11, 2002. Dr. Laura Miriam B. Buenviaje acted as Officer-in-Charege of the Institute from September 12, 2002 to April 14, 2003. The first batch of graduates of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) major in General Education graduated in 2009, four years after the course was offered. Due to desire of the college to produce mathematically adept, linguistically inclined and highly competitive mathematics and language teachers, Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) major in thematics was offered in 2003, while Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSED) majors in English and Filipino were offered in 2009. Also, Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) major in Preschool Education will be offered this collegiate year 2010-2011. During the college's reorganization on April 15, 2003, Dr. Esperanza F. Salinas became the Dean of the Colege while Proffesor Juliana M. Salalila and Dr. Allegria C. Rivera served as the Chairman of Academic Instruction and Chairman Shop Instruction respectively. As a proof to its commitment to provide quality education, the college was granted Level 2 accreditation status to its Bachelor of Science Industrial Education (BSIE) (now Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education (BTTE)) and Bachelor of secondary Education (BSED) programs on Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc. whereas the BEEd program was preliminary surveyed for accreditation status by the same agency on March 16, 2009. With regard to the suggestions of the accreditors given during their visit on October 5, 2007, one was the change of the nomenclature from Institute of Industrial Teacher Education to Institute of Teacher Education. In connection with the university's vision, mission and objectives that is to produce equally competent and highly skilled graduates, the College of Education consistently reviews, revises, improves and updates its offerings. The College is now headed by its Dean Dr. Alegria C. Rivera, from January 2, 2007 to date.
