NEWLY SELECTED COLLEGE PRESIDENT. The local government of Bago, led by Mayora Mayette Javellana, congratulates Dr. Rowena V. Bañes as the next Bago City College (BCC) president.

Dr. Bañes was one of the three candidates who applied for the said position.

She was able to top the series of search processes conducted by the Search Committee for College President, the Human Resource Merit Promotion and Selection Board (HRMPSB), and the Board of Trustees (BOT) in its final deliberations held at the City Mayor's Office Conference Room today, April 8.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Director Raul Alvarez was also present during the final deliberation.

Doc Weng, as she is fondly called by her peers and students, is currently the director of the Center for Alumni Relations at the University of St. La Salle.

Her long and storied career started after graduating cm laude with a Bachelor of Arts major in Psychology at La Salle College (1987).

Shen then took her Master of Arts in Education, majoring in Guidance and Counseling, at the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (1999) and another master's degree, this time in Psychology, at the University of San Carlos in Cebu (2003).

In 2009, she graduated from the University of San Agustin in Iloilo with a Doctor of Philosophy in Psychology.

With more than three decades as a registered guidance counselor, registered psychologist, and professional teacher combined, Doc Weng will bring these experiences to her new field of endeavor this time as the head of BCC.

A native of Barangay Caridad, Doc Weng is one proud Bagonhon. She was conferred with the Gawad Bagonhon award during the 50th charter anniversary of Bago, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the city government to its outstanding sons and daughters.

She will assume the post as soon as her appointment is signed by Mayora Mayette as the appointing authority and take her oath thereafter.
