The cool climate of Baguio City has never failed to entice students for the unique university life it promises. At the fore of this is one of Baguio's premier institutions of higher learning - the University of Baguio. Since its foundation on August 8, 1948, the University of Baguio has steadily made a name for itself as one of the summer capital's biggest universities with an average student popu

lation of 13,000 in the college level alone. UB was granted an Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education on March 11, 2009, the first non-sectarian university in the Cordillera Administrative Region to be granted such. This makes UB among the select 42 private higher educational institutions granted an autonomous status out of 2,000 throughout the country. Constantly abreast with the latest trends in its various fields of specialization, UB prepares its students for the ever-competitive world of work that awaits them after college. Its competent faculty, cutting-edge facilities, harmonious family culture, healthy campus politics, and wholesome intra-school competitions perfectly complement the cool climate of the country's summer capital, making learning fun and worthwhile. Through its more than six decades of existence, UB has nurtured generations of students from Baguio City, the greater Cordillera region, the rest of the country, and at least 19 foreign nations.

📣OFFICIAL ADVISORY

UB HIGHER EDUCATION CLASS OPENING ARRANGEMENTS

August 10–14, 2026

In view of the continuing heavy Habagat (southwest monsoon) rains, localized landslide risks, and hazardous travel conditions along major access roads to Baguio City, the University of Baguio will implement a Flexible Online Learning Arrangement for the first week of classes, August 10–14, 2026.

This arrangement will follow the University’s Ease-Into-Learning Protocol, giving students and faculty members time to safely transition into the new academic term while ensuring that classes and course activities can begin.

FOR STUDENTS

1. Prioritize your safety.
Do not travel if weather or road conditions are hazardous. Students coming from areas affected by severe weather are advised to remain at home and participate online when possible.

2. Check your Student Portal and official class Group Chats.
Log in to your Student Portal and join the official Group Chats established by your instructors or program.

3. Complete your course onboarding.
Download your course syllabi, check your course requirements, and participate in your instructors’ course orientations.

4. No academic penalties for weather-related disruptions.

Students will not be penalized or marked absent when power outages, internet interruptions, or travel disruptions caused by the weather prevent them from participating in scheduled online sessions.

5. Communicate with your instructors.

Inform your Instructor, Program Chair, or Dean as soon as power and internet connectivity become available.

FOR FACULTY MEMBERS

1. Work remotely when conditions permit.
Faculty members may work remotely if they have reliable internet connectivity and can effectively perform their assigned teaching and related duties online.

If internet connectivity is unavailable, faculty members may report to the University only when travel and reporting to campus are permitted and safe under prevailing conditions.

If reporting to campus is not feasible or is prohibited due to weather and safety concerns, faculty members may shift to coursework preparation and other appropriate academic tasks that can be completed offline. These arrangements must be clearly communicated to students through available communication channels.

2. Activate course communication channels.
Make course rooms active and establish official class Group Chats and LMS course shells as soon as possible.

3. Focus on orientation and onboarding.
During the first week, prioritize course orientations, syllabus walkthroughs, course expectations, and student onboarding.

4. Observe the Ease-Into-Learning Protocol.
No graded assessments, strict submission deadlines, or high-stakes quizzes shall be required during Week 1.

5. Provide flexible alternatives.
Provide asynchronous learning options for students affected by power, connectivity, or travel disruptions, in accordance with Administrative Memorandum No. 010, s. 2026.

6. Exercise compassion and flexibility.
Faculty members are expected to exercise maximum consideration and leniency regarding student connectivity, attendance, and participation during this period.

FOR DEANS AND PROGRAM CHAIRS

The Dean’s Office shall oversee the implementation of faculty work arrangements during the week.

Deans shall ensure that faculty members establish primary communication channels with their respective classes and implement an appropriate monitoring system to regularly check the status and work arrangements of faculty members.

STAY SAFE. STAY CONNECTED.

Students and faculty members are encouraged to stay in touch with their Deans, Program Chairs, and Instructors and to monitor the University of Baguio’s official channels for further announcements and updates.

Your safety comes first.
