This October, in observance of National Indigenous Peoples Month, is โDitengโ, a space to heal.
It names a return: to balance, to relation, to wholeness.
To heal is to heal the land. The body and the land are not separate stories. The terraces, the rivers, the forests, and the people share one breath; what wounds one, wounds the other.
Our Indigenous community cannot be made whole while its ancestral land is extracted, flooded, or forgotten. The works in this exhibit hold that healing is not private. To heal is also to work towards a just and peaceful society. Where Indigenous peoples are not asked to explain their right to exist. Where land is returned rather than merely remembered. Where dignity does not have to be earned twice. Diteng, understood this way, is both an inward practice and an outward demand.
To view the works is itself a form of healing: to meditate on the hands and lands that made them possible. Let the colors, the weave, the carved line, and the silence between them reach you before you reach for meaning.
As we heal, and so we continue.
Join us for this significant event that invites reflection and action in solidarity with Indigenous communities. View Diteng on October 13, 2026, from 12nn to 2pm at the CAC Dap-ay and Darnay Demetillo Art Space, University of the Philippines Baguio
