Technology has made the world smaller and education more accessible, but innovation without conscience comes at a steep cost. When driven purely by corporate greed, technological advancement becomes a threat—𝙙𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙣𝙫𝙞𝙧𝙤𝙣𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙡𝙤𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙢𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨.

Here in the Philippines, the reality is stark: from the geopolitical implications of Pax Silica and destructive large-scale mining in Benguet, to the systemic underfunding of local research and laboratories.

𝐆𝐀𝐒𝐂 𝟔𝟏 | 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐋𝐀𝐍𝐃𝐒 𝐒𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐊

The 61st General Assembly of Student Councils (GASC) has adopted two resolutions authored by the UPB USC, which were crafted and finalized along with multiple student councils in the UP System.

GASC Resolution No. 2026-2020 calls for a higher and sufficient UP budget allocation, rejects the commercialization of university spaces, and strengthens institutional support for basic student services, including student spaces and Gender and Development (GAD) programs. This resolution incorporates UP Baguio's proposal to explicitly strengthen institutional support for GAD initiatives and ensure adequate budget allocation for their implementation.

GASC Resolution No. 2026-2023 amends GASC Resolution No. 2026-011 by strengthening the campaign against repressive and anti-student academic policies, particularly for internship and associate degree programs, through the establishment of institutional mechanisms across all UP constituent units and colleges. A part of the amendment was authored by UP Baguio, drawing from the College of Arts and Communication's CAC 7 internship issue to underscore the need for concrete protections and accountability mechanisms for student interns.
