TRANSPARENCY REPORT: BAGUIO RELIEF EFFORTS

We are deeply grateful to everyone who entrusted us with their donations and helped make this relief effort possible. Here is a breakdown of the support we received and how it was turned into aid for families affected in Guisad Surong.

As of our latest report, we have received ₱18,650 in monetary donations, alongside various in-kind contributions. Through these donations, we were able to provide:
• 25 kilos of rice
• 82 hygiene kits
• 413 instant meals
• 82 snacks

We were also able to extend assistance beyond our initial beneficiaries, with donations distributed to families seeking shelter at San Luis Evacuation Center, Baguio International Academy, Guisad Surong Barangay Hall, and Dominican Mirador MPH Hall.

A special thank you to our sponsors and donors, UP Sigma Beta Sorority Global Alliance, Sis Irene Ugto, Sis Ayra Gallema, Sis Mona Romero, Ms. Aubrey Irorita, Alpha Phi Omega - Gamma Pi Chapter, UPB Council of Leaders, UP Pre-Medical Society - Baguio, PAGTA UPB, and anonymous donors whose generosity helped us reach more families.

SITUATION UPDATE & DONATION CALL: GUISAD SURONG, BAGUIO CITY

On the evening of August 9, a devastating landslide struck Barangay Guisad Surong, trapping residents within their homes as heavy rain continued to fall across the city.

Since the disaster, affected families have been forced to leave their homes and seek shelter in evacuation centers. For many, the days ahead mean starting over with only what they were able to carry. While local authorities and responders work continuously on the ground, public support is urgently needed to augment ongoing relief efforts.

If you are in a position to help, we invite you to stand with our displaced neighbors. No amount is too small, and every bottle, meal, kit, and peso can mean something to a family trying to get through these difficult days.

CALL FOR DONATIONS

Due to the heavy monsoon rains, typhoons, and landslides, several families in Guisad Surong, Baguio City have been evacuated and are currently in need of assistance.

In this difficult time, your generosity can provide much-needed support to our fellow community members.

All donations will go directly to 14 families, comprising 62 individuals, including children aged 3 to 7, who are currently staying at Baguio International Academy after being evacuated from Guisad Surong.

On August 1, 2026, the UP Sigma Beta Sorority - Baguio Chapter gathered at Alvea Cafe, Baguio City, for an evening that celebrated what it means to grow, to belong, and to remain.

With alumnae returning to the place where so many memories began, and resident sisters stepping into another chapter of their journey, the evening felt like a gentle meeting of the past and the present. Different generations, different stories, yet still bound by the same sisterhood.

At the heart of the evening was the pinning of the resident sisters, a quiet but meaningful moment that marked not only their place in the Sorority, but also the responsibility of carrying its name, traditions, and legacy forward.

The Orchid Ball was a celebration of how far the sisterhood has come, the women who have shaped it along the way, and the ones who will continue to let it bloom.

Some things change with time. Sisters graduate, new faces arrive, and chapters of life unfold. But the bond remains, carried in familiar laughter, old stories, new memories, and the simple comfort of always having sisters to come home to.

Nine Orchid Balls later, the Baguio Chapter continues to bloom, gracefully, together, and always in the company of sisterhood ✨

On June 27, the ‘25-’26 resident sisters of the UP Sigma Beta Sorority - Baguio Chapter gathered for a heartwarming send-off dinner. The night was filled with love and memories for the moments shared together. It was followed by the official graduation ceremony on June 30, 2026, marking not only the completion of one chapter but the beginning of a new journey for our graduate sisters. 🎓

We wish our graduate sisters, Sis Frankie and Sis Angela, for an exciting adventure ahead. We are always here for you.
