On this day, 12 June 2026, the Louisian community joins the rest of the country in commemorating the 𝟏𝟐𝟖𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞, pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 118, series of 2026.

This historic occasion honors the 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝟭𝟮 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟴𝟵𝟴 𝗶𝗻 𝗞𝗮𝘄𝗶𝘁, 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗶𝘁𝗲— a defining moment that paved the way for the convening of Congress, the framing of the Constitution, and the 𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝘀𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰.

𝐏𝐑𝐂 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐄𝐀 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐄𝐧𝐠’𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC)- Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering (PRBECE) held its inspection and monitoring visit of the Saint Louis University (SLU) School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA) Electronics Engineering (ECE) Program on 10 June 2026.

Hosted by SEA Dean Engr. Jeffrey Des B. Binwag and Electronics Engineering Department Head Engr. Michael A. Cagaoan, the evaluation aimed at ensuring that the ECE Program complies with national standards and required quality.

Delegates of the PRC-PRBECE were Hon. Vicente L. Cejoco, Chairman of the Board of Electronics Engineering; Hon. Gerhard P. Tan, Member of the Board of Electronics Engineering; Engr. Abraham P. Os-osa, Education Supervisor Il and CHED-CAR Representative; and Ms. Ivy D. Gayon, PRC – CAR Representative.

The program started with the acknowledgment of the delegates, the welcome remarks from Engr. Binwag, then an introduction to the faculty of the Department of Electronics Engineering. This was followed by a discussion, held at the SLU Incubator for Research, Innovation and Business (SIRIB) Center, between the PRC-PRBECE and the ECE Department about curriculum changes, encouragement of more enrollees, and programs and research integrating with other fields.

Facilities of the Electronics Engineering Department were thereafter inspected through a tour at the Otto Hahn Building, SLU Main Campus. The session ended with suggestions from Engr. Os-osa regarding improvements of the ECE curriculum.

Right after the inspection and monitoring visit, the PRC-PRBECE delegation endorsed ECE’s Certificate of Compliance.

𝐒𝐋𝐔 𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭, 𝐥𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦

In preparation for Academic Year (AY) 2026-2027, Saint Louis University (SLU) held its Calendar Summit on 9 June 2026 at Fr. Francis Gevers Hall, Diego Silang Building, SLU Main Campus. Focused on fostering synchronicity through operational planning and digitalization, the summit brought together heads of offices to align efforts, balance academic rigor with holistic development, and strategically chart a clear course in the coming AY.

University Registrar, Andrew S. Macalma, PhD, detailed the goals of the Summit: to align activities with the University’s vision and synergize efforts; to establish a comprehensive, fixed academic calendar; to strengthen executive engagement through synchronicity; and to enhance operational efficiency through early planning and organization.

Atty. Shellah Yzanne P. Merced, the SLU Vice President for Administration, then discussed the scheduling guide and ground rules to ensure that the conduct of activities and events– whether they be university-wide, per cluster, or per school or unit– is streamlined and collaborative.

To facilitate the process, the Paper Trail Facilities Management System was officially launched. SLU Office of Institutional Development and Quality Assurance Coordinator Kasima Rose M. Mendoza presented the facility reservation workflow and walked through the key functions in using the tool. Notably, the new Paper Trail program optimizes facilities requests and eliminates paper-based processing.

Following the discussions and presentations, the different clusters held breakout workshop sessions to map their university-wide, cluster-level, and unit-level activities, which were then presented to the body immediately afterward. The cluster reports proceeded with the following presenters:

- Mission and Identity Cluster: Koshia Marie C. Rosete, Office of the Vice President for Mission and Identity Secretary
- Academic Cluster: Atty. Yasmine Lee R. Tadeo, School of Law Dean
- Administrative Cluster: Jean Karen G. Jaime, Assistant Director of the Human Resource Department
- Office of the Internal Auditor: Edwin K. Shagyo, Audit Staff
- Finance Cluster: Bernard F. Ticangen, Office of the VP for Finance Secretary

In concluding the summit, Atty. Merced gave closing remarks, underscoring the recurring theme of unified rhythm and synchronicity: when coordinated systems and meaningful human relationships meet, they create a “fluid middle ground”, which is a balanced space where unified rhythm and purposeful connection converge and where efficiency and creativity, coordination and individuality can coexist.

As the day-long summit comes to an end and as the University begins with another academic year, may there be a “unified rhythm that keeps us alive in purpose and steady in action”, by remaining open in “synchronicity that gives us meaning in our work,” said Atty. Merced. She added, “May we continue to build a community that is not only organized but also deeply responsive, reflective, and alive with purpose.”

As SLU sets out its plans in line with Missio et Excellentia, the 2026 Calendar Summit synergized efforts for an impactful university life. This initiative affirmed United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education), 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

𝐒𝐋𝐔 𝐮𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐬 𝐀𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐅𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

On 08 June 2026, Saint Louis University (SLU) held a ceremonial blessing for the new parking area and upgrades to the heating system and tiling of the Aquatic Facility’s swimming pool at the Maryheights Campus, Bakakeng. Led by Rev. Fr. Geraldo Costa, CICM, the ceremony was attended by the SLU Management team and the staff of the facility.

The renovation was done to retile the pool and fix the leaks to ensure the safety of learners and users. Also, aside from the parking spaces, the Facility constructed staff quarters as part of its recent developments.

Drawing from the Letter to the Corinthians about how runners “run in such a way as to take the prize,” Fr. Costa reminded everyone of the facility’s purpose of providing academic support, as well as mental and physical well-being underscoring the importance of endurance and rest. He prayed that the new spaces continue to provide “rest for the weary” and refresh all who enter.

SLU Vice President for Administration Atty. Shellah Yzanne Merced expressed thanks on behalf of SLU President Rev. Fr. Gilbert B. Sales, CICM, PhD and the management team to all partners and contributors who helped realize the facility including SLU Campus Planning, Maintenance, and Security Department (CPMSD), the School of Accountancy, Management, Computing and Information Studies (SAMCIS), the School of Teacher Education and Liberal Arts (STELA), and the partner-contractor.

Aligned with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 4 (Quality Education) and 3 (Good Health and Well-Being), the newly-renovated Aquatic Facility brings the Louisian community together through the virtue of companionship in shared spaces to learn and connect emphasizing health and well-being.
