CPSC’s entry, Project LETRA (Lifting Education Through Reading Activities), brought a community-driven response to the challenge of struggling readers to a regional platform that showcased student-led innovation, community initiatives, and solutions to pressing social concerns.

Representing CPSC were Cendie, Jr. G. Bucog and Grace C. Saballa, with Ms. Juvy M. Agbayani and Ms. Ma. Melina A. Rodriguez served as coach.

The third-place finish highlighted how a literacy initiative rooted in a local community had developed into a project capable of reaching and competing on the regional stage.

𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗧𝗢 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧

Project LETRA was developed to respond to the needs of struggling readers by providing structured and interactive reading activities designed to strengthen literacy skills and build learners’ confidence.

In Mambajao, the initiative brought together local government, schools, youth leaders, student volunteers, teachers, parents, and other community stakeholders around a shared goal of helping young learners improve their reading abilities and regain confidence in learning.

The Local Government Unit of Mambajao, the Sangguniang Kabataan Municipal Federation (SKMF), and CPSC formed part of the partnership that helped transform the initiative from a community-based idea into sustained action.

The project’s community foundation had also gained recognition for its literacy efforts. The Philippine Information Agency reported in May 2026 that Project LETRA in Mambajao used guided reading sessions, phonics instruction, peer reading, and interactive literacy games to address students’ reading challenges while involving teachers, parents, administrators, and volunteers in strengthening reading skills and habits.

𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗛 𝗟𝗘𝗔𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗞𝗘𝗥𝗦

Beyond literacy intervention, Project LETRA demonstrated the role of young people in responding to community concerns.

Through CPSC student leaders and volunteers, the project connected higher education with communities beyond the campus and positioned young people not only as beneficiaries of education but also as active contributors to addressing educational challenges.

For Bucog, the regional recognition marked another step in the project’s continuing development and opened opportunities for stronger collaboration with the Municipality of Mambajao.

The CPSC team expressed its intention to further strengthen the implementation of Project LETRA in the community through continued partnership and collaboration.

𝗦𝗨𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧 𝗕𝗘𝗛𝗜𝗡𝗗 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗚𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

The achievement was also made possible through the support of community partners who continued to stand behind the project.

The CPSC team recognized Mayor Yñigo Jesus D. Romualdo, Hon. Lander Jun O. Cutab, Mr. Earlindo S. Gamao, SK Official Hon. Reychille A. Abian, and Hon. Mercely M. Valdehueza for their support, encouragement, and commitment to strengthening Project LETRA in the community.

The Philippine Information Agency also reported that the Municipality of Mambajao supported Project LETRA as part of its literacy and youth-development efforts, emphasizing collaboration among local government, schools, volunteers, and families.

𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗔 𝗣𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗘

For CPSC, the third-place finish represented more than a competition result.

It brought a community concern from Camiguin into a wider regional conversation on literacy, student innovation, youth leadership, and community development.

The recognition demonstrated how a local initiative could move from identifying a community problem, mobilizing stakeholders, implementing an intervention, and eventually bringing its experience to a regional platform.

Most importantly, Project LETRA remained centered on the learners it was created to serve.

The project carried a message that struggling readers should not be defined by what they could not yet do, but supported toward what they could become.

From Mambajao to the regional stage, Project LETRA carried not merely a pitch, but the stories of learners, volunteers, educators, parents, youth leaders, and community partners who believed that literacy could open doors.

For CPSC, the regional recognition marked not the end of the journey, but another milestone in its continuing mission to transform community action into lasting opportunities for learners.

𝘽𝙮 𝙎𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙢𝙖𝙝 𝘾. 𝙋𝙪𝙡𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖

𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟒, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | Aside from discussing the student handbook, event preparations, and other crucial information, various speakers emphasized the responsibilities of the student body during the 1st Students' General Assembly at the Camiguin Polytechnic State College (CPSC) covered court.

The meeting began with Office of the Students Affairs and Services (OSAS) Director Mr. Rejet P. Adlao expounding the Student Handbook.

Adlao highlighted the different offenses that students must avoid committing including: offenses against persons, offenses against property, offenses involving dishonesty, offenses against order, offenses against public morals, and minor offenses that are considered offensive.

He reminded that each person has a "digital imprint" to protect, especially as the digital world keeps evolving, and as CPSC adapts the database system, wherein with just one search of a name, the student's violations, records, and even delayed fee payments will easily show up.

“𝑨𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒂𝒈𝒂𝒊𝒏, 𝒕𝒐 𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒔𝒕𝒖𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒆, 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒂𝒏𝒚 𝒗𝒊𝒐𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒐𝒓𝒅𝒔 𝒖𝒏𝒅𝒆𝒓 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝑶𝑺𝑨𝑺 𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆𝒔,” Adlao encouraged.

While acknowledging that it is their job to handle student conflicts, he expressed the process is "very long", and he advised students to always apologize first to whoever they might offend.

He further explained that if disagreements are settled before a complaint is filed at the OSAS, no record will show up under the student offender's file.

Additionally, Adlao said the OSAS is "not ignorant" or unaware of the different offenses related to the formation of unrecognized organizations or fraternities.

"𝑾𝒆 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒌𝒏𝒐𝒘 𝒘𝒉𝒊𝒄𝒉 𝒉𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒔 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒖𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒗𝒆𝒏𝒖𝒆 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒛𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔," he shared.

After expounding the student handbook, student leaders from the different organizations introduced their Constitution and By-Laws (CBL).

The Central Student Council (CSC) CBL was explained by CSC Senate President Kathlene Gapas along with the other senators and department representatives across institutes.

Meanwhile, the Central Student Government (CSG) CBL was elaborated by Representative of the House of Representatives Jamaica Rhea Abella and other CSG representatives.

Afterwards, Commissioner of the CSC Commision on Audit Kate Novem Magbunag showed the recent financial report.

The Proceeds Collection Report tallied a total of 2,678 students that have paid the ₱120 CSG membership fee during enrollment, garnering a total of ₱321,360 collected money.

However, Magbunag clarified that the total expenses are yet to be submitted and the current financial status is yet to be confirmed.

The General Assembly concluded with an open forum, particularly to listen to students' suggestions for the theme of the upcoming Joint Annual Induction Grand Acquaintance Party (JAIGAP).

After listing the different suggestions and argumentations, CSG President Mark Niel Rago announced that the voting for the JAIGAP theme will be done online through Google Forms to ensure that votes are accurately counted and for a smooth voting process.

In accordance with the approved College School Calendar and Office of the College President Memorandum No. 294-2026, Camiguin Polytechnic State College officially announces that classes for Academic Year 2026–2027 will begin on August 11, 2026 (Tuesday) across all campuses.

Students are advised to complete their enrollment and make the necessary preparations before the opening of classes.

🎉 5th Student Leadership Training Successfully Concluded!

The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) proudly congratulates all student leaders who successfully completed the 5th Student Leadership Training held on July 24–26, 2026 at Camiguin Highland Resort, Soro-Soro, Mambajao, Camiguin, with the inspiring theme:

"One Vision, One Voice, One Student Community."

Over the three-day training, participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions, workshops, and leadership development sessions covering effective leadership, emotional intelligence, parliamentary procedures, organizational management, activity planning, financial accountability, records management, and student governance. The program also provided an opportunity for student leaders to strengthen collaboration, enhance their leadership competencies, and prepare for responsible service to the student body.

The Office extends its sincere appreciation to the College Administration, our distinguished resource speakers, advisers, facilitators, organizers, and everyone who contributed to the success of this training. Most importantly, we commend all student leaders for their enthusiasm, commitment, and active participation throughout the program.

May the knowledge, skills, and values gained from this training inspire each participant to lead with integrity, unity, accountability, and excellence as they serve the Camiguin Polytechnic State College community.

Congratulations once again to all participants! Together, let us continue building one vision, one voice, and one student community.
