The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) College Library gratefully received a donation of 199 volumes from Great Books Trading on June 10, 2026.

The collection, received by College Librarian III, Ms. Mardelyn Barrogo, includes reference materials in engineering and agriculture that will further support the academic and research needs of the ASCOT community.

This generous contribution enriches the library’s collection and expands learning opportunities for students, faculty, and researchers.

June 4, 2026 — As part of Aurora State College of Technology's (ASCOT) participation in Open Gov Week 2026, the ASCOT Library conducted "Access for All: Free Open Educational Resources and AI Tools for Research and Learning," an initiative open to students, educators, researchers, and members of the public, May 19-22, 2026.

The activity introduced participants to freely accessible educational resources, research platforms, and AI tools, highlighting practical ways to access quality information and learning opportunities without financial barriers.

The initiative formed part of ASCOT's contributions recognized by the Philippine Open Government Partnership (PH-OGP) Project Management Office under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), which awarded the College a Certificate of Appreciation for its participation and contribution to the successful observance of Open Gov Week 2026.

On May 25, 2026, the Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) College Library received the second batch of donated books from international lawyer David Kuchenbecker.

A total of 382 volumes were officially turned over to the College Library and received by College Librarian III, Mardelyn Barrogo.

The donated collection features a diverse range of materials, including fiction and non-fiction titles, novels, self-help books, foreign language resources, coffee table books, and other valuable reading materials.

The ASCOT College Library extends its sincere gratitude to Mr. David Kuchenbecker for his generous contribution. This donation will significantly enrich the library’s collection and provide additional learning and reading opportunities for students, faculty, and the wider academic community.

Our Head Librarian, Ms. Mardelyn Barrogo, recently joined law librarians and legal information professionals from across the Philippines at the Philippine Group of Law Librarians (PGLL) 2026 Summer Conference, held on May 20–22, 2026 at Citystate Asturias, Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

📚 This year’s theme: "𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑸𝒖𝒊𝒆𝒕 𝑷𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒊𝒃𝒓𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒔: 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒐𝒗𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝑳𝒆𝒈𝒂𝒍 𝑺𝒆𝒓𝒗𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒔 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑭𝒖𝒕𝒖𝒓𝒆-𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝑬𝒏𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕," the three-day conference tackled timely and critical topics, including:

The conference featured distinguished resource speakers, including Atty. Steven G. Gatacelo, Associate Solicitor General of the Office of the Solicitor General; Atty. Jay Brian Corpuz, Dean of the College of Law at Mariano Marcos State University; Ms. Emma M. Rey, former Executive Director of the Congressional Library Bureau of the House of Representatives; Atty. Felipe V. Seva, Jr. of the DOST-Forest Products Research and Development Institute; Mr. Sammy S. Lagas II, Library Specialist at the Securities and Exchange Commission; Ms. Kenny Rose D. Clasita, Supervising Legislative Officer of the House of Representatives Library; and Hon. Maria Amifaith S. Fider-Reyes, Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. Jezreel B. Vicente, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education at Fullbright College, Puerto Princesa.

Fifteen years of open government through the Open Government Partnership (OGP) have shown what’s possible when governments and citizens work together.

Today, the need is even clearer. Governments face growing complexity, and trust in institutions is under pressure. People expect to be more involved in decisions that affect their lives.
