September 25, 2026- A greener milestone for Aurora State College of Technology!

In the 2026 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, ASCOT climbed to #923 worldwide, moving up 212 places from its 2025 rank of #1,135—and breaking into the Top 1,000 universities worldwide.

ASCOT also ranked #55 in the Philippines.

This recognition reflects our continuing commitment to sustainability, environmental responsibility, and building a greener campus and community.

What can global academic experiences teach us about the future of Philippine higher education?

Meet Dr. Mark Norman A. Maca, a comparative and international education scholar whose academic journey spans the Philippines, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Maca is an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at City St George’s, University of London, a Visiting Research Fellow at Kyushu University, and a Professorial Lecturer at the University of the Philippines Diliman. A former Erasmus Mundus Scholar and JSPS Ronpaku Fellow, he earned his PhD from Kyushu University.
His research explores Philippine education policy, labour migration, curriculum history, and national identity—perspectives that bring the global and the Filipino into the same conversation.

Now, he joins 𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗱𝗲 𝟬𝟭: “𝗡𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗔 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗢 𝗡𝗔𝗛𝗨𝗟𝗜? 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.”

The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) has been recognized as a Model Organic Agriculture Campus and received an Excellence Award in networking in the field of Organic Agricultural Innovation Movement from the Association of Agricultural Technology in Southeast Asia (AATSEA) on September 4, 2026.

The recognition forms part of the International Declaration on the Modernization of Organic Agriculture Movement, which brings together institutions from Thailand, China, Indonesia, India, Vietnam, and Bangladesh, committed to advancing organic agriculture, sustainability, innovation, and food security.

ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes said the recognition reflects the College’s ongoing development of its Bazal Campus as a model for organic and sustainable agriculture. The campus houses Agricultural Sciences programs and features initiatives such as an edible forest and animal production, creating a hands-on environment where students can apply science and technology to sustainable agricultural practices.

LOOK | 𝗔𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗧 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝗜𝗘𝗘𝗘 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺

Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) Associate Professor III Von Gerald Macose earned the Best Paper Award at the 2026 13th IEEE Symposium on Industrial Electronics & Applications (ISIEA 2026) held on July 25–26 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Macose was recognized for his research paper, “AVIS Framework: A Trigger-to-Wake Edge AI Architecture for Energy-Constrained Avian Interaction Intelligence in Rice Agroecosystems,” which he also presented during the international symposium.

The study explores the use of edge artificial intelligence (AI) to develop energy-efficient technology for monitoring and addressing avian interactions in rice agroecosystems, bringing together emerging AI applications and practical agricultural concerns.

Currently on study leave, Macose continues to contribute to ASCOT’s research and scholarly work, with his latest recognition highlighting the College’s growing presence in international academic platforms.

His achievement adds to ASCOT’s growing research and publication efforts and reflects the College’s commitment to supporting scholarly work that responds to real-world challenges. It also highlights the potential of research developed by ASCOT faculty to contribute to technological innovation in agriculture and generate knowledge with relevance to local communities.
