October 21, 2026 - Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) continues to advance its internationalization efforts through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Gyeongkuk National University (GKNU) ANCHOR Center of South Korea held at Kolehiyo ng Lungsod ng Dasmariñas.

Signed by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes and Dr. Woo Taik Lim, Director of the ANCHOR Center, represented by Prof. Hwang Hui Yun, Executive Director, Operations Support Division, GKNU-ANCHOR Project Group Director, Bio-material Industrialization Support Center, GKNU- ANCHOR Project Group, the agreement aims to strengthen academic ties and foster meaningful exchanges among students, faculty members, and administrators of both institutions.

The partnership opens opportunities for student and faculty exchanges, joint research initiatives, collaborative academic programs, and the development of joint and dual-degree programs. It also highlights cooperation in agriculture research and development, creating opportunities to share expertise and explore solutions to practical challenges.

Also present during the signing were Dr. Alking Gorospe, Director of the Research and Development Office, alumni of GKNU; Dr. Mark Angelo Diaz, Dean of the School of Engineering, GKNU alumni; Engr. Bonifacio Gemphis Jr., Director, School of Engineering RAM Center; Lee Jiheum, Ph.D., Industry-Academic Cooperation Professor at GKNU, and Kim Gyoo Jin, PhD; Industry Academic Cooperation Professor at GKNU.

Beyond the formal agreement, the partnership reflects ASCOT’s commitment to building global connections that enrich learning, strengthen research, and expand opportunities for its academic community. Through international collaboration, ASCOT continues to create pathways for knowledge exchange and innovation that benefit both its campus and the wider community.

Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) moves up in the national rankings while sustaining its standing in the ASEAN region in the AppliedEdu (formerly AppliedHE) Public University Ranking ASEAN 2027.

ASCOT retained its 93rd place in ASEAN and 2nd place in Central Luzon, while climbing from 9th to 7th in the Philippines—a two-place improvement from its 2026 standing.

More than numbers, these results reflect ASCOT’s continuing commitment to quality education, institutional growth, and meaningful contributions to the communities it serves.

This milestone also reflects the collective efforts of the ASCOT community under the leadership of College President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, whose commitment to advancing the institution continues to drive ASCOT toward greater heights in higher education.

The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) formalized a stewardship agreement with the Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and Sorority – ASCOT Chapter and Gamma Epsilon International – Pi Omicron Chapter through a signing held at the Office of the President on October 20, 2026.

The agreement was signed by ASCOT President Dr. Renato G. Reyes, Kappa Epsilon Sorority President Kristine Angara, and Gamma Epsilon International – Pi Omicron Chapter President Dave G. Bihasa. It establishes the terms governing the organizations’ use, care, and maintenance of their designated kiosk on campus.

Under the agreement, the organizations may use the kiosk for meetings, programs, and other lawful organizational activities, subject to College policies and established guidelines. They are also responsible for keeping the facility in good condition and ensuring that its use does not disrupt academic activities, compromise campus safety, or damage College property.

The agreement reflects ASCOT’s commitment to fostering responsible student organizations while promoting the proper use and preservation of campus facilities.

Also present during the signing were Ms. Melissa Grace P. Nacino, Director of the Student Affairs and Services Office; Mr. James Matthew Viernes; Head of Socio Cultural Affairs, and Mr. Ryan Bautista of the Gamma Epsilon International – Pi Omicron Chapter.

The discussion focused on key requirements for university status, including faculty qualifications, research outputs, library resources, and institutional facilities—identifying areas that need to be strengthened as ASCOT moves forward.

With CHED’s technical guidance and the College’s commitment to institutional development, ASCOT continues to turn its universityhood aspirations into concrete steps toward a stronger future for higher education in Aurora.
