𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗺: 𝘿𝙧. 𝘿𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙖 𝘼. 𝙍𝙤𝙡𝙖

The Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) joins the academic community in mourning the passing of Dr. Dionisia A. Rola, whose dedication and service became part of the College’s history during its formative years.

Long before ASCOT grew into the institution we know today, Dr. Rola was already helping shape its foundation. In 1993, she served as Coordinator of the ASCOT Task Force, which researched and prepared the necessary groundwork for the creation of the College.

Her commitment to ASCOT continued as the institution developed. She became involved in efforts to strengthen the College’s organizational structure and management, including the re-engineering of ASCOT and the professional development of its personnel. She also facilitated immersion and on-the-job training at UP Diliman for personnel from key administrative offices, helping improve the delivery of services to the College community.

Her contributions later extended to academic development and quality assurance. She was engaged to assess ASCOT’s academic performance, particularly its curricula, and subsequently contributed to the College’s early efforts toward program accreditation.

Dr. Rola continued to serve as a College consultant into the succeeding years, offering her expertise as ASCOT grew and strengthened its institutional foundations.

Her legacy is woven into the early story of ASCOT—in its creation, organizational development, people development, and academic strengthening.

As we remember Dr. Rola, we honor a woman whose work helped a young state college find its direction and build the foundations upon which ASCOT would continue to grow.

Thank you, Dr. Rola, for helping build ASCOT from the ground up. Your contributions to the College will remain a meaningful part of our institutional history.

May she rest in peace. 🕊️

Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) alumnus Ron Allen C. Angara, former President of the ASCOT Supreme College Student Council (SCSC) and class valedictorian of the School of Engineering, has been named one of the finalists of the 59th Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) Region 3 Alumni Community of Heroes (R3ACH).

The regional recognition honors outstanding student leaders and alumni across Central Luzon who embody the TOSP values of learning, leading, and serving for life.

For Angara, the recognition came unexpectedly. While painting and working on his artworks, he received a message from a TOSP representative asking if they could call him. It was during that call that he learned he had made the regional finalist roster.

He said the recognition was both surprising and meaningful, especially since he never pursued his academic, leadership, and community work with an award in mind.

In a message to the ASCOT IU team, he shared, “𝗜 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲 𝗱𝗼𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗜 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗜 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗲.”

For Angara, leadership is not defined by a title but by the willingness to act and serve.

“𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. 𝗜𝘁’𝘀 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻.”

He encourages current ASCOT students to look beyond academics, engage with their communities, and use their knowledge and skills to respond to real needs.

The TOSP recognition, for him, is also an opportunity to show that an ASCOTian can contribute beyond Aurora by bringing the institution’s values, knowledge, leadership, and service to wider communities.

Ultimately, he hopes students will pursue leadership and service not for recognition, but because they genuinely want to contribute:

Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT) Associate Professor III Von Gerald Macose earned the Best Paper Award at the 2026 13th IEEE Symposium on Industrial Electronics & Applications (ISIEA 2026) held on July 25–26 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Macose was recognized for his research paper, “AVIS Framework: A Trigger-to-Wake Edge AI Architecture for Energy-Constrained Avian Interaction Intelligence in Rice Agroecosystems,” which he also presented during the international symposium.

The study explores the use of edge artificial intelligence (AI) to develop energy-efficient technology for monitoring and addressing avian interactions in rice agroecosystems, bringing together emerging AI applications and practical agricultural concerns.

Currently on study leave, Macose continues to contribute to ASCOT’s research and scholarly work, with his latest recognition highlighting the College’s growing presence in international academic platforms.

His achievement adds to ASCOT’s growing research and publication efforts and reflects the College’s commitment to supporting scholarly work that responds to real-world challenges. It also highlights the potential of research developed by ASCOT faculty to contribute to technological innovation in agriculture and generate knowledge with relevance to local communities.

ASCOT recorded a 71.43% passing rate among first-time takers, higher than the 66.52% national passing rate in the Licensure Examination for Guidance Counselors.
