As part of the Rabies Awareness Month observance, a stray feeding activity was conducted today, March 13, within the premises of the University and nearby areas in Banga Public Plaza, providing nourishment to community dogs and cats.

Though temporary in nature, the initiative reflects compassion for animals in need while underscoring the continuing call for stronger and more sustainable programs that address stray animal welfare and rabies prevention.

The Junior Clinicians of Aklan State University - College of Veterinary Medicine, in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian - Aklan, actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Anti-Rabies Vaccination Drive on March 11, 2026, in Poblacion, Kalibo, Aklan, as part of the observance of Rabies Awareness Month. The activity provided veterinary clinician students with a valuable opportunity to assist in vaccinating pets while supporting the provinceโ€™s ongoing rabies prevention and control initiatives.

Guided by the national theme, โ€œRabies-Free na Pusaโ€™t A*o, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipino!", this initiative highlights the vital role of veterinarians in promoting responsible pet ownership and strengthening rabies prevention efforts within our communities.

In observance of Rabies Awareness Month, the Veterinary Medicine Cliniciansโ€™ Club (VMCC) conducted a rabies vaccination drive on March 11, 2026, at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital, bringing together dedicated junior clinicians in a shared mission to protect both animals and the community.

Anchored on the theme โ€œRabies-Free na Pusaโ€™t A*o, Kaligtasan ng Pamilyang Pilipino!โ€, the activity led to the successful vaccination of 60 dogs and cats, a small yet meaningful step toward preventing a disease that remains a serious public health threat.
