The Board of Directors of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines (PAP), Inc. conducted the first phase of its strategic planning for 2027–2029 on August 29 at the University of the Philippines Manila.
Despite the challenging weather, members of the Board traveled to Manila to convene and begin a process that will help shape the future direction of PAP. The session focused on strengthening the organization’s governance and developing a shared vision for PAP toward 2029.
The program opened with remarks from Board President Dr. Ruby Suazo, who framed the session around three important questions: Who are we serving—and who are we missing? What value do we currently create, and does it still matter? And what kind of Board do we want to be?
Board Director Kenneth Lagera then facilitated learning sessions on the Board’s core responsibilities, fiduciary duties, and strategy, followed by a workshop on developing PAP’s vision, mission, and values.
In attendance were the other members of the Board: Atty. Mark Ramolete, Jaybee Cabañeros, Dr. Yodi Nebrija, Alvin Tan, Dr. Bernard Caslib, and Dr. Aldrin Quintero.
The Board was also joined by Dr. Paolo Bolaños, Editorial Board Chief of Suri: The Journal of the Philosophical Association of the Philippines, who shared updates and initiatives from Suri and helped the Board re-align with the journal’s continuing work.
As flooding in the area began to rise, the Board transferred to a nearby mall and continued the workshop.
The Board will reconvene in September for Phase 2 of the strategic planning process, where it will identify the strategic objectives needed to realize PAP’s 2029 vision and determine the initiatives and targets needed for effective ex*****on.
