Agriculture Statistics Information Dissemination: Empowering Future Agribusiness Professionals

On April 22, 2026, an Agriculture Statistics Information Dissemination event was successfully held at Ilocos Sur Community College in Bantay, Ilocos Sur. The activity brought together faculty members of the BS Agribusiness program and second-year BS Agribusiness students, creating a meaningful space for learning and engagement.

The main objective of the event was to help participants better understand the importance of agricultural statistics in decision-making, planning, and policy development. Through a series of presentations from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Ilocos Sur, students were introduced to key data on crops, fisheries, livestock, and population. The speakers also explained how these statistics are gathered and how they reflect real-life conditions in the agriculture sector.

Another important goal of the event was to make students aware of how reliable data supports farmers, businesses, and government programs. By learning how to interpret agricultural data, students can become more prepared for their future roles in agribusiness, where data-driven decisions are essential.

One of the highlights of the program was the active participation of the students during the open forum and Q&A sessions. The BS Agribusiness second-year students confidently asked questions, shared insights, and clarified ideas presented by the speakers. Their participation showed curiosity, critical thinking, and a genuine interest in applying what they learned to real-world situations.

Overall, the event was not only informative but also inspiring. It strengthened the connection between theory and practice, and encouraged students to see the value of statistics in agriculture. With the guidance of their faculty and the expertise of PSA speakers, the participants left the event with deeper knowledge and a stronger motivation to contribute to the agricultural sector.
