In the recently concluded Regional State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (RSCUAA) held at Carlos Hilado Memorial State University (CHMSU) last September 10-16, 2023, one of BVC's pride took home the most coveted prize in the field of lawn tennis, the Gold Medal.

Bryan Jake Villalobos of this campus, a second-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture student, and his team triumphantly snatched the CHAMPION titleship against Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U). As a long-time RSCUAA defending champion, ISAT-U according to Villalobos, is one of the best and hardest opponents to defeat, but because of their determination, teamwork, and the support of the people around them, they have withstood the challenge.

Villalobos rose from a family of athletes in Barangay San Antonio, Barotac Viejo, citing one of his cousins, John Mark, who according to him, also plays the same sport. For Villalobos, lawn tennis is his hobby, and he has been in the sport since fourth grade and has undergone training under Sir Vicente Baticbatic. His training was arduous for it required him to keep a balanced diet, regular exercise to lose weight, and maintain proper posture.

Reminiscing the victorious moment of his team, he said: "Pag last hit niya, naghigda siya kag nag-hibi. Actually, wala kami kabalo kon ano himoon namon. Nagdalagan nalang kami sa iya kag gin-hakwat siya kag naghibi kami tanan sa tunga ka court." referring to his teammate Chris Neto Buenvinida of the Main Campus, who earned their last and winning point giving them the title. His other teammates are French Jude C. Barsanas (Sara Campus), Louis Andrei B. Rogales (Main), and Lorenz J Roe Delfin (Lemery).

His team is set to compete in the upcoming National Games of the State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (NSCUAA) in Tarlac City next month representing Region VI, Western Visayas. Still, Villalobos reminds his fellow athletes, "Indi lang mag give up sa tanan-tanan nga oras. Bisan ga struggle ka, practice lang kag mag salig lang gid sa Ginoo.”
