The Mariano Marcos State UniversityโCollege of Computing and Information Sciences (MMSUโCCIS) team secured a Top 12 semifinal finish in the Early-Stage Project Competition Track of the Enactus Philippines National Competition 2026, held on October 9โ10, 2026, at De La Salle University in Manila.
Competing with FarmKonek, an agricultural technology startup concept, the team advanced to the semifinals after initially qualifying among the Top 60 teams selected from more than 200 entries nationwide.
The university was represented by fourth-year Information Technology students Marc Joseph Buduan Sacopaso and Juniene Gwyneth Montano Basilio, together with third-year student Angelo Laurence Ancheta Palting. They were mentored by their coach, Dr. Napoleon Mabanta Cacanindin.
FarmKonek was presented as a proposed solution to help local farmers gain direct access to buyers and work toward greater financial stability. Through crop pre-purchasing and risk prediction models, the concept seeks to address uncertainties in agricultural production and marketing while creating better opportunities for farming communities.
Before reaching the national stage, FarmKonek received the highest score among MMSU submissions and became the official campus representative under Enactusโ one-team-per-campus policy. KFP Upcycled Products earned the second-highest score and was designated as the alternate representative.
The teamโs semifinal finish brought pride to MMSUโCCIS and recognition to an idea centered on farmersโ needs. Their achievement highlighted how students can apply computing knowledge and entrepreneurial thinking to challenges beyond the classroom.
