[Batangas City]- In an initiative to strengthen its institutional commitment to environmental stewardship and campus sustainability, the 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 of Westmead International School (WIS) headed by John Lorenz Lumanglas, Student Council STAO and Committee Head, has issued a reminder regarding its weekly 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰-𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 campaign. The initiative serves as a continuous call to action for students, faculty, and administrative staff to actively minimize their reliance on single-use plastics during end-of-week school activities.

To participate in the campaign, students are highly encouraged to practice small shifts in their Friday routines. The committee recommends carrying reusable tumblers or flasks for hydration, using durable tote or canvas bags for academic supplies, and packing meals in reusable containers to prevent disposable food packaging waste.

The committee also emphasized that the weekly effort aligns with several key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically SDG 12 for Responsible Consumption and Production, SDG 13 for Climate Action, and SDG 14 for Life Below Water.

Through these simple but meaningful actions, the school aims to cultivate lasting habits that contribute to a more sustainable future.

📚 WIS Joins the DOST–STARBOOKS Program!

Westmead International School – Basic Education Department is proud to be one of the recipients of the DOST–STARBOOKS Program. The school staff and librarian participated in the Mass Installation and Orientation held at the Batangas Provincial Library.

Through STARBOOKS, our students and school community will have greater access to science, technology, and digital learning resources. 💻📖

Westmead International School – Basic Education Department is proud to be one of the recipients of the DOST–STARBOOKS program, with the Mass Installation and Orientation held at the Batangas Provincial Library.

The activity was attended by the school staff and the school librarian, who participated in the orientation and installation of the STARBOOKS facility.

DOST–STARBOOKS is the Philippines’ first Science and Technology Digital Library in a Box, providing access to a wide range of science and technology information and learning resources. The program is spearheaded by the Batangas Provincial Library to help promote accessible and innovative learning resources for students and the school community.
