Nine years of military rule from 1972 to 1981. 11,103 recognized human rights victims. 70,000 arrested and detained. 3,257 verified deaths. 34,000 tortured.

Hindi natin maaaring ituring na simpleng bahagi ng nakaraan ang isang panahong nilapastangan ang karapatang pantao at ginamit ang kapangyarihan upang supilin ang mga tinig ng pagtutol. May mga Pilipinong ikinulong, tinorture, dinukot, pinatay, at pinatahimik dahil tumindig sila laban sa pang-aabuso. May mga pamilyang hanggang ngayon ay pasan ang bigat ng pagkawala at kawalan ng hustisya.

Hindi sapat ang sabihing lumipas na ang lahat. Ang panahon ay maaaring lumipas, ngunit hindi nito binubura ang pananagutan. Hindi rin natin maaaring payagang ang kasaysayan ay rebisahin upang pagtakpan ang mga krimen at gawing katanggap-tanggap ang pang-aabuso sa kapangyarihan.

On ๐’๐ž๐ฉ๐ญ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ž๐ซ ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ“, ๐Ÿ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ”, the ๐”๐ ๐๐จ๐ฅ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ฅ ๐’๐œ๐ข๐ž๐ง๐œ๐ž ๐‚๐ข๐ซ๐œ๐ฅ๐ž gathered its members at the ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ž๐๐ข๐š ๐‚๐ž๐ง๐ญ๐ž๐ซ, ๐ƒ๐ซ. ๐‚๐ซ๐ข๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฒ ๐. ๐‡๐ž๐ซ๐ง๐š๐ง๐๐ž๐ณ ๐‡๐š๐ฅ๐ฅ, for its ๐†๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ซ๐š๐ฅ ๐€๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ž๐ฆ๐›๐ฅ๐ฒ, marking the beginning of a new academic year for the organization.

From organizational updates and discussions to the plebiscite for the newly adapted Constitution and By-Laws, the assembly gave members the chance to stay informed, participate, and have a part in shaping the direction of the Circle.

The gathering also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability as financial matters and the organizationโ€™s funds were openly presented to the members.

Beyond the matters on the agenda, the assembly was also a chance to listen, ask questions, share ideas, and get on the same page as one organization. It brought together members from different year levels and gave everyone the opportunity to connect with the people behind the names that make up the Political Science Circle.

Every academic year comes with its own plans and challenges, and A.Y. 2026โ€“2027 is no different. With everyone taking part in their own way, we hope to make this year meaningful not only through the activities we hold, but also through the connections we build along the way.

The Political Science Circle recently gathered for its General Assembly for A.Y. 2026โ€“2027, where members took part in the plebiscite for the newly adapted Constitution and By-Laws of the organization.

Following the discussions and deliberations during the Constitutional Convention held on September 12, 2026, the General Assembly served as the next step in bringing the proposed changes before the members of the Circle.

The proceedings were presided over by President Wendy Diane Perez, Vice President for Internal Affairs Jhade Wendel Gainza, and Vice President for External Affairs Gabriel Magpulhin.

A Constitution is not simply a document. It sets the rules, responsibilities, and principles that help an organization move forward. Through the plebiscite, the members became part of that process.

As the Circle begins another academic year, may this newly adapted Constitution serve as a foundation for a more organized, participatory, and accountable Political Science Circle.

Yesterday, September 12, 2026 delegates from the 1st to 4th year levels gathered for the Political Science Circle Constitutional Convention 2026 to review, and discuss the organizationโ€™s Constitution and By-Laws.

We exercised not only our authority to amend our organizational Constitution and By-Laws, but also our responsibility to deliberate carefully, listen to different perspectives, and uphold democratic decision-making.

The convention was made possible through the active participation of our delegates, secretariat, presiding officers, participants, and observers. We were also joined by our Political Science Advisers and Professors, Mr. Jerico Reyes and Mr. Abvic Maghirang, who took part in and observed the proceedings.

Representing the Political Science Circle, ๐๐ซ๐ฒ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž ๐‚๐ก๐ซ๐ข๐ณ๐ญ๐ข๐š๐ง ๐‚. ๐€๐ง๐ฎ๐ซ๐š๐ง and ๐‘๐š๐œ๐ก๐ž๐ฅ ๐€๐ง๐ง๐ž ๐๐ž๐ง๐ข๐ ๐ง๐จ proudly took the stage as the representatives for Mr. and Ms. CAS Freshmen 2026, with their fellow students cheering them on throughout the afternoon.

With the cheers from the crowd and the performances that filled the gym, the event gave the CAS freshmen an afternoon to remember as they showed their support and celebrated the talents of their fellow students.

The long wait is officially over! Today, September 11, 2026, the College of Arts and Sciences raised its sails for AGOS 2026: A Voyage Towards CAS Excellence at the UB Millennium Gym.

Ka-PolSays joined the fleet, proudly sailing alongside fellow CASanggas, freshmen and other year levels, as waves of unity, talent, and college pride filled the gym. From the opening anchors to the vibrant showcases, the Political Science Circle captured the spirit of this day, proving that UB PSC is always part of the journey toward excellence.
