The Batangas State University Integrated School (Batang IS) has reaffirmed its dominance in robotics, achieving significant success at the Pilipinas RoboSports Tournament. Held at the De La Salle Medical and Health Science Institute in Dasmariรฑas City, Cavite, on April 6 and 7, the Batang IS robotic innovators emerged as the Champion, outperforming 40 national and international acclaimed entries.
Exhibiting unparalleled inventive solutions and complex problem-solving abilities in the Research Category, the champion team brought honor to Batangas State University, The National Engineering University (BatStateU The NEU), by earning widespread acclaim. They introduced Project PLIONE (Protecting Lives, Investing in the Oceans, and Nurturing Exploration), which features robots designed to manage fire emergencies and address oil spills. The team, composed of Chelsea Angela Palisoc from the IS Senior High School, along with Apoll Marc Venedict Hernandez and Sherwin Vien Hienzo Melo from the IS Junior High School, was coached by Mr. Jomari Montalbo.
Their innovation, including the FERBot, is outfitted with advanced technology, including Lego Spike, Arduino hardware, and fire-resistant materials, and it has demonstrated capabilities in autonomous navigation, flame detection, and sustainable fire suppression. Another is the OCMBot, a ship-mounted compartment system using saba banana peel and leaf-based absorbents for oil spill remediation, exemplifying environmental responsibility.
Additionally, another team from Batang IS showcased their TACO project (The Art COllaboration), designed to merge art education with technology, fostering inclusivity. This device aims to assist color-deficient individuals and those working in the paint industry. Under the mentorship of Mr. Montalbo, team members John Angelo Bautista, Alyannah Macatangay, and Edwin Macuha Jr. were praised for their innovative research and design capabilities as participants.
BatStateU reasserted its robotics leadership at the Pilipinas RoboSports Tournament, emphasizing environmental and educational advancement and thus enhancing its role in developing future STEM leaders.
