Marcos.

We remember him not merely for the life he gave, but as a symbol of the countless lives lost, the disappeared, and those who, unnamed and without monuments of their own, endured torture and persecutionโ€”of all who offered their courage, truth, and sacrifice upon the altar of democracy, and whose example continues to inspire us today.

We are no strangers to the wounds of a punitive regime, for we, too, face the same challenges he and our forebears endured: the distortion of our history, the spread of lies and deception, and the wielding of influence and power for personal ambition and self-interest.
