It's Pi Day!

Pi Day is a celebration of the most famous mathematical constant, 3.14159....! Just like the digits of Pi that go on infinitely, learning continues boundlessly.

On this day, let us honor the importance and beauty of mathematics, as Pi reminds us that knowledge is infinite, whether through solving problems or simply appreciating the beauty of numbers.

In the same way as Pi, learning is a continuous process and it's always part of our everyday journey.

This is a sign to continue, MMS! PADAYON!

On March 5, 2026, the Math-in-a-bangon Tutorial Session was successfully conducted by the Math Major Society (MMS) at the Faculty of Teacher Educationโ€”Room ADE 132.

The first year students preferred to focus on the College and Advanced Algebra course as they really find it challenging but very essential for their academic journey.

During the session, students had the chance to review, ask questions, and practice problem-solving together. Hopefully, this truly helped them gain confidence on solving, sharpen their problem-solving skills, and improve their performance in every major course.

A deep gratitude to Mr. Marc Gil R. David for generously volunteering as the tutor. Special thanks also to the MMS team for making this event possible and successful.

Hosted by the VSU Mathematics Society and the VSU Math Major Society, the Mathematics Week 2026 officially concluded on February 27, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 PM.

The program began with opening remarks from Mr. Helmar G. Ycong, adviser of the Math Major Society (MMS). In his message, he commended the students for their active participation throughout the week-long celebration and highlighted the importance of mathematics in academic and real-life setting.

One of the highlights of the evening was the awarding ceremony for the winners of the various competitions held during the week, including Chess, Damath, and the Math Quiz. Participants were recognized for their skills, strategy, and mathematical excellence.

The excitement continued with a raffle draw where two rims of bond paper were given away as prizes. Students from both organizations were fortunate recipients, bringing the event to a cheerful close.

Ms. Shasney Ganabes, the MMS President, afterwards expressed gratitude to fellow officers, participants, and supporters who contributed to the success of Mathematics Week 2026.

All members are encouraged to attend this session as this will help you conquer math with a fresh start and a boost of confidence. Furthermore, whether you are struggling with basic lessons or aiming to master advanced topics, this will help you build a strong foundation and excel in mathematics.

After a week filled with problem-solving, collaboration, friendly competition, and a shared appreciation for mathematics, we are gathering to officially conclude the celebration. Yesterday, February 25, 2026, the Math Major Society (MMS) and VSU Mathematics Society (MathSoc) successfully conducted the Math Week's activitiesโ€”Chess, DaMath (Polynomials), and Math Quiz Bee.

The board gamesโ€”Chess and DaMathโ€”were held at the Faculty of Teacher Educationโ€”Room ADE 214, while the Math Quiz Bee was held at the DMATH Lecture Room 1, Smart Classroom. Also, players were facilitated by the MathSoc and MMS officers, spearheaded by Mr. Francis Gerland Bejar and Ms. Shasney C. Ganabes.

A deep gratitude to the participants for their full participation and dedication to the said events. You indeed showcased your magical skills in a different way. As Magic Johnson stated, "In life, winning and losing will both happen. What is never acceptable is quitting." Truly, whether you win or lose, you still did a great job!
