On July 10, 2026, our dedicated faculty members successfully conducted and participated in the Culmination Program of the extension project entitled, โCapacitating Trainers on Persons Deprived of Liberty with Basic Learning and Living Skillsโ at Leyte Regional Prison, Abuyog, Leyte, in partnership with the Bureau of Corrections.
The day began with a hands-on cooking session, where selected learners had the opportunity to develop practical culinary skills under the expert guidance of Dr. Lambert. The activity not only enhanced their knowledge and skills but also encouraged teamwork, creativity, and confidence among the participants.
In the afternoon, the program concluded with the delivery of inspirational messages, followed by an Awarding Ceremony recognizing the learners for their active participation, commitment, and achievements throughout the extension program. The faculty members, who served as experts, were also recognized for sharing their knowledge and facilitating meaningful hands-on activities.
The event was graced by the presence of dedicated correction and training officers led by Mr. Chito R. Turalde, Deputy Superintendent for Administration; CO2 Noli Ann C. Billo, Acting Deputy Superintendent for Reformation; and CO2 Reydante M. Ninofranco, Chief of the Education and Training Section of Leyte Regional Prison. Also present were the faculty members as experts, the learners, and the Head of the Department of Secondary Education, Dr. Christy M. Desades, whose presence and support greatly contributed to the success of the activity.
This culmination marks not only the completion of a program but also a celebration of the transformative power of education. The extension project commenced in June 2025 and concluded on July 10, 2026, with Dr. Hilda Pedrera and Ms. Mildred M. Siarez serving as project leaders.
We extend our sincere appreciation to the Bureau of Corrections administration, correction and training officers, faculty members, learners, and everyone who contributed to the success of this meaningful initiative.
Together, we continue to create opportunities for learning, empowerment, and hope.
