The 2nd Undergraduate Conference on Methods of Chemical Analysis, with the theme “Tuklas: Discovering What Lies Beyond the Sample,” successfully concluded on September 23, 2026, at the Regional Climate Change Research and Development Center.

The conference featured Dr. Ronald Arlet P. Villaber as the plenary speaker, alongside presentations by 3rd Year BS Chemistry students highlighting various methods and applications in chemical analysis. The event provided an avenue for academic exchange, allowing participants to explore how analytical techniques contribute to the identification, characterization, and understanding of substances beyond what is immediately observed.

True to its theme, Tuklas underscored the essence of chemical analysis: transforming observation into understanding and revealing the information held within every sample.

Because beyond every sample lies something waiting to be discovered. 🧪 💫

BS Chemistry freshman 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗘𝗱𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘇 secured 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 in the 𝗩𝗦𝗨 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, held on September 17, 2026 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the DStat Training Room.

The competition began with the 𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 on September 14 at the DStat Training Room and DStat Lab 3, which determined the 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟮𝟬 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘀 who advanced to the final round. The finalists then competed for the top spots during the final round held on September 17.

Sanchez showcased his knowledge and skills in statistics, earning a 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 among the finalists.

As one of the top two placers, Sanchez will represent Visayas State University (VSU) in the 𝟯𝟬𝘁𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹-𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇.

‎Three Chemistry teams, under the guidance of their coach, Jhayce Lei Jabon, engaged in three rounds of challenging questions, courtesy of the department heads. They showcased excellent chemistry, cooperation, and brilliance in answering with confidence.
