In her opening remarks, ๐’๐ž๐š๐ง ๐Œ๐ข๐œ๐š๐ก ๐€๐ง๐ ๐ž๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐•๐Ž๐•-๐‹๐’๐’ ๐๐ซ๐ž๐ฌ๐ข๐๐ž๐ง๐ญ, reminded everyone that National Law Day is not simply about studying the law, but about developing a deeper appreciation and understanding of it.

Meanwhile, ๐€๐ญ๐ญ๐ฒ. ๐„๐ฉ๐ข๐Ÿ๐š๐ง๐ข๐จ ๐ƒ๐ž๐ฅ๐›๐ž๐ซ๐ญ ๐†๐š๐ฅ๐ข๐ฆ๐š, ๐ƒ๐ž๐š๐ง, ๐’๐Œ๐” ๐‚๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐ ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐‹๐š๐ฐ shared a powerful reminder in his welcome message: โ€œThe law is not for the lawyers; the lawyers are for the law.โ€

Our guest speaker, ๐‰๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ž ๐‹๐ž๐ฌ๐ฅ๐ข๐ž ๐ƒ. ๐‚๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ๐š๐ฅ๐ž๐ฌ, ๐‰๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐Œ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐œ๐ข๐ฉ๐š๐ฅ ๐“๐ซ๐ข๐š๐ฅ ๐‚๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐๐š๐ฒ๐จ๐ฆ๐›๐จ๐ง๐ , further enriched the celebration through his lecture on the role of the academe in the justice system. He also recognized the former supervising lawyers of the SMU College of Law, whose contributions became part of the strong foundation that continues to shape future lawyers and advocates.

As we celebrate 125 years of judicial tradition, we are reminded that the future of the law calls us to carry its legacy while embracing innovation and fulfilling our duty as modern sentinels of justice.
