Last August 7, 2026, Saint Mary's University conducted a campus-wide ๐ต๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘”๐‘Ž๐‘‘๐‘Ž ๐ธ๐‘ ๐‘˜๐‘ค๐‘’๐‘™๐‘Ž that brought together the students, faculty, and staff of the university to clean, repair, and prepare the university's facilities before the academic year start.

The Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition - SMU Chapter participated in this activity by conducting a clean-up drive at the Renato Sergeant (RS) Building. Participating in this campus-wide movement shows the organization's passion to contribute to the university's Clean, Healthy, Safe, and Friendly program.

Through this, we help create a stronger, more secure, and better environment for the students of Saint Mary's University ๐Ÿ’™

On July 23, student leaders from the Institute of Computer Engineers of the Philippines Student Edition - SMU Chapter participated in this yearโ€™s Leadership Capacitation Training under the theme "๐ธ๐‘š๐‘๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘‘ ๐‘ก๐‘œ ๐‘†๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฃ๐‘’: ๐น๐‘œ๐‘Ÿ๐‘š๐‘–๐‘›๐‘” ๐‘†๐‘๐‘–๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ก-๐‘“๐‘–๐‘™๐‘™๐‘’๐‘‘, ๐ถ๐‘œ๐‘š๐‘๐‘’๐‘ก๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก, ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘‘ ๐‘€๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘œ๐‘›-๐ท๐‘Ÿ๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘› ๐‘†๐‘ก๐‘ข๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก ๐ฟ๐‘’๐‘Ž๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ ."

Throughout the workshop, the representatives had a deeper understanding of leadership across vital university sectors, including Spirituality and the CICM Mission, Discipline, Financial Stewardship, Social Responsibility, Self-Care and Peer Counseling, Quality Assurance, SMU Branding and Visual Identity, and Student Services.

Beyond leadership principles, the team gained hands-on guidance on administrative operations, intellectually developing their skills in university workflows, action plans, liquidation reports, and accomplishment reports.

๐ŸŽ“๐Ÿฆฏ THESIS PRESENTATION: EARNAV 2.0

We are proud to present EARNAV 2.0 (Enhancing Accessibility for Visually Impaired Individuals through Audio and Haptic Navigation Supported by Image Processing for Classified Object Detection), a wearable assistive navigation system designed to help visually impaired individuals navigate safely through audio instructions, vibration cues, and obstacle detection.

Through extensive testing, EARNAV 2.0 achieved 71.3% object detection accuracy, a 90% obstacle avoidance success rate, and an overall usability rating of 4.48/5, demonstrating its potential as an accessible and innovative navigation aid.

This study features a smart aquaculture system that monitors key pond parameters (temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity) in real time, with automated feedback and feeding powered by IoT and solar energy.

Our findings highlight the potential of smart, sustainable technologies in improving fish pond management and aquaculture practices.
