The Saint Mary’s University Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Unit (SMUROTCU) successfully completed the Regional Annual Administrative and Tactical Inspection (RAATI) 2026, held on May 4 at the SMU Parade Ground, achieving an outstanding overall rating of 99.043 %.

The inspection was led by RAATI Team Chairman COL CAMILO A SADDAM, GSC (INF) PA, alongside Vice Chairman LTC CARLITO G MIGUEL, GSC PA (RES), and their inspection team. University President Dr. John Octavius S Palina formally welcomed the officials, highlighting the significance of the activity as a venue to demonstrate the cadets’ discipline, preparedness, and the results of months of intensive training.

The event was also attended by members of the university administration and National Service Training Program (NSTP) facilitators, with full support from NSTP Head Mr. Domingo T Guntalilib Jr., reinforcing the strong institutional backing behind the ROTC unit’s accomplishments.

More than an evaluation, RAATI 2026 served as a showcase of excellence, commitment, and teamwork. The inspection covered both administrative and tactical components, including the Commandant’s briefing, cadet attendance, training aids, reference materials, and overall unit administration.

During field demonstrations, cadets delivered commendable performances in Arrival of Jonors, Company Drills, Inspection of ranks, ceremonial parade, and close order drills. They also underwent a series of rigorous assessments such as M16 rifle assembly and disassembly, map reading, Basic Life Support and First Aid, Comprehensive examinations, and tactical field exercises including platoon raid and ambush scenarios, demonstrating both physical readiness and mental resilience.

The program was further enhanced by a ground demonstration from CWTS and LTS students, reflecting unity and active participation across all NSTP components.

This year’s RAATI underscores the dedication, discipline, and collective effort of the entire SMU ROTC Unit.
