Recognizing the need for a stronger and more focused institutional vehicle, the College of Governance (CGov) was shaped as one of the newest colleges of Marinduque State University.

The College aims to develop students to become life-long learners, multi-skilled and professional public leaders and servants that could initiate reforms and promote good governance, embodying the values of ethical standards, accountability, discipline, and excellence.

Prior to the creation of CGov, the Bachelor of Public Administration program was first offered by Marinduque State College in AY 2012-2023 under the School of Business and Management, while the BA in Political Science was offered by the School of Liberal Arts in Sta. Cruz campus after MSC "adopted" Marinduque Community College through Republic Act 7319.

Much like the discipline itself, the BPA program has matured over the years and now stands proudly as a separate college, together with the Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the MarSU Sta. Cruz Branch.

Today, the College, through the BPA program, continues to put theory into practice -- PRAXIS, guided always by the principle: lagi't lagi para sa bayan

Public Administration is a degree program that prepares individuals for careers in public administration and governance in pursuit of public interest. It is also a formation course for students who want to devout their lives to public service in government and civil society.

As the country's largest employer, the government requires a continuous supply of committed and dedicated public servants. At the same time, civil society organizations need staff and volunteers imbued with the same values who can head and manage their advocacy and service delivery programs to pursue causes directed for the public good.

We concluded our Women’s Month celebration with the participation of over 300 barangay officials and community members from the Municipality of Boac, Marinduque, through a recently held 3-day capacity development training on the Safe Spaces Act (RA 11313), March 23-25 at the Marelco Center for Interactive Learning, Brgy. Ihatub, Boac, Marinduque.

This Gender and Development (GAD) initiative, funded by the Provincial Government of Marinduque, is the first to be carried out among the province’s six municipalities, with full implementation targeted within this year.

The training, attended by members of the Katarungang Pambarangay (Lupon Tagapamayapa), VAWC Desks, Barangay Tanods, SK Chairs, and other barangay officials, featured lectures and discussions on gender sensitivity and responsiveness, key provisions of GAD laws, Anti-Sexual Harassment policies, and the Safe Spaces Act. It also included workshops, simulation exercises (role-playing), and other interactive activities designed to deepen participants’ understanding and guide them in developing a Barangay GAD Code for effective and localized implementation in their respective communities.

Bilang isang estudyante at kabataang babae, ibinabahagi ni Florianne Joanna A. Larobis na ang tagumpay ay nagsisimula sa tiwala sa sariling kakayahan. Sa kabila ng mga pagsubok, ang tiyaga at tapang ang magsisilbing gabay upang maabot ang minimithing kinabukasan.

Sa kanyang patuloy na pagbangon at pakikipaglaban, pinatutunayan niya na ang bawat babae ay may kakayahang mangarap, kumilos, at magtagumpay.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗡𝗪𝗠𝗖: 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 #𝗚𝗔𝗗-𝘁𝗼-𝗞𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗶𝗴𝗻

Led by the Local Government of Torrijos through the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, the MarSU Gender and Development Office extends its advocacy to build safe and inclusive communities.

With the expertise of Dr. Keam Eric Malabayabas, Asst. Prof. Jayceron Monteagudo and Ms. Maria Claudia S. Gonzales, insightful sessions on the Safe Spaces Act and Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children were provided among 271 4Ps beneficiaries (27 male and 243 female) on March 6, 11 and 13 in selected barangays. Participants learned how to identify and report gender-based sexual harassment in streets, public spaces, and online. Indeed, education is the first step toward a harassment-free
environment
