Marinduque State University proudly stands with the nation in observing Open Government Week 2026 on May 18–22, a global initiative that champions transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.

As a backgrounder, Open Government Week is celebrated worldwide under the Open Government Partnership (OGP), now marking its 15th year. In the Philippines, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed all government agencies, state universities, and local governments to host their own Open Government Day during this week, institutionalized through Proclamation No. 916 (2025). The observance highlights the country’s commitment to openness, inclusivity, and participatory governance under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda and the Philippine Development Plan 2023–2028.

Under the leadership of University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, MarSU champions its dedication to openness in governance, innovation in service, and inclusivity in decision-making. By engaging students, faculty, staff, and the wider Marinduque community, the University strengthens trust and empowers stakeholders to be active partners in shaping a transparent and participatory future.

Harold Cabreros, Administrator of OCD and Executive Director of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), together with Dir. Arnulfo C. Matanguihan, Regional Director of OCD MIMAROPA.

The College of Environmental Studies, under the leadership of Dr. Evangeline B. Mandia, proudly hosted today’s ceremony. University President Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta commended the College of Education for its high passing rate in the recently released LET 2026 results, and reminded everyone to continue pursuing excellence as the true hallmark of MarSU’s mission.

On the other hand, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Leodegario M. Jalos, Jr., also emphasized the upcoming activities and milestones such as the commencement exercises and the start of the midyear term, both marking another chapter in the university’s journey of growth and purpose.

Additionally, HRMU Head and Supervising Administrative Officer Ms. Erma E. Reyes announced the release of the medical allowance, underscoring MarSU’s commitment to the welfare of its employees.

MarSU moves forward with pride and excellence, building a future where every achievement uplifts our island and our nation.

𝗔 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗗 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗗𝗿. 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗥. 𝗔𝗽𝗮𝗴 𝗜𝗜𝗜

On May 13, 2026, Marinduque State University (MarSU) warmly welcomed Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner and Chairperson of the MarSU Board of Regents, Dr. Desiderio R. Apag III, in a visit that highlighted the university’s milestones and strengthened its ties with CHED.

Upon his arrival, Dr. Apag was greeted by key officials led by Prof. Diosdado P. Zulueta, together with students and employees, through the traditional putong rites, a cultural gesture of honor and hospitality that reflects Marinduque’s rich heritage and the community’s deep respect for its leaders.

The day’s engagements began with the Groundbreaking Ceremony of the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) Building, a landmark project that symbolizes MarSU’s commitment to expanding academic infrastructure and fostering innovation in the liberal arts and social sciences. This development marks another step forward in the university’s mission to provide quality education and modern facilities for its growing academic community.

Dr. Apag also graced the 11th Moving Up Ceremony of the College of Education Laboratory High School, joining faculty, parents, and students in celebrating the achievements of young learners. His presence underscored the importance of nurturing future educators and leaders who will contribute to national development.

In addition, the Commissioner conducted visits across MarSU campuses, engaging with administrators, faculty, staff, and students. These interactions reaffirmed CHED’s support for MarSU’s initiatives in academic excellence, infrastructure growth, and holistic student success.

Dr. Apag’s visit stands as a testament to the strong partnership between CHED and MarSU, inspiring the university community to continue striving for greater heights in education, research, and service, while proudly upholding the cultural identity of Marinduque.

Ang Marinduque State University ay taos-pusong bumabati ng Maligayang Araw ng mga Ina.

Kinikilala namin ang walang kapantay na pagmamahal, sakripisyo, at inspirasyon ng mga ina, ilaw ng bawat tahanan at huwaran ng malasakit sa komunidad.

Sa lahat ng kababaihan ng ating pamantasan, mga ina, g**o, kawani, estudyante, at lider, kami ay lubos na nagpapasalamat. Ang inyong tapang, talino, at malasakit ay nagbibigay ng liwanag at lakas sa ating komunidad.
