The University of the Philippines Kadugong Bol-anon (UPKB) is the first and only organization of UP students who are from the province of Bohol and/or those of Boholano lineage. UPKB is also one of the duly recognized, geographic-based, ethnicity-based, and non-profit student organizations in the University of the Philippines. It was established in 1977 and since then, the organization has been at
the forefront of developing a sense of service and responsibility among its members, and promoting the province of Bohol, its people, and its culture through various activities and collaborations with other student organizations within and outside the university. UPKB Academic Festival (AcadFest) is the organization’s annual grand event comprising of different competitions which serve as avenues for Boholano grade school and high school students to showcase their skills, talents, and wits. Shown below is a line-up of the different competitions included in the UPKB AcadFest:
AcadRace – a race that will test the contestants’ calibre on various subject matters and the contestants’ level of formulating strategies in winning a race. Photoshoot Contest – this contest will test the contestants’ artistry and creativity by producing photographs that wholly capture the AcadFest theme. Brain Scan – a quiz bowl that will examine the contestants’ knowledge on different academic subjects and current events. Mind Maze – also a quiz bowl but the questions are made to try out the contestants’ wits and level of logical thinking. On-the-spot Essay Writing Contest – a contest that will challenge the competitors’ ability in writing an essay regarding current social issues and the like. Extemporaneous Speaking contest-a contest that will test the participants’ competence in delivering an unrehearsed, on-impulse speech of their stand about a given theme. The 25th Great High School Debate Tournament – will test the contestants’ ability to defend and win over an argument on certain issues that are of public interest.
