The Office of Gender and Development (OGAD) officially launched the campus's first Childminding and Lactating Room, named GADjamina, on May 11, 2026.
In her opening message, OGAD Director Assoc. Prof. Almira A. Hadji reaffirmed the office's commitment to promoting gender-responsive and family-friendly spaces that support the well-being of students, employees, and clients of the university.
Representing Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, OIC Assoc. Prof. Joseph V. Andas conveyed the Chancellor's commendation of the initiative, recognizing it as a significant milestone in fostering a more inclusive, caring, and supportive campus environment.
Messages of support were likewise delivered by Assoc. Prof. Alcyn R. Bakkang, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and Assoc. Prof. Kartini R. Tahir, Chairperson of the Department of Early Childhood and Elementary Education, highlighting the significance of GADjamina in supporting student-parents and promoting a more inclusive, caring, and learner-centered campus community.
One of the highlights of the program was the Mother's Day tribute, featuring a special song performance by Ms. Angelica Esmael of the Gusih Lumba Music Guild. Handcrafted flowers were also distributed as tokens of appreciation to honor and celebrate mothers.
OGAD extends its heartfelt gratitude to Chancellor Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali, for the unwavering support of the Office's initiatives and steadfast commitment to advancing a gender-inclusive and gender-responsive institution.
Special appreciation is also extended to the Infrastructure Services Office, headed by Engr. Allan S. Caguio; the Auxiliary Services Unit, headed by Mr. Al-Qazwini J. Hadji; and the Office of Medical and Wellness Services, headed by Dr. Jaiver L. Sahibuddin, for their invaluable support and contributions in making the project possible. The Office of Creative Works, headed by Asst. Prof. Nelson S. Dino, for helping conceptualize the meaningful identity behind the name GADjamina, a symbol of care, nurturing, strength, and blessings that embodies the facility's purpose and reflects the university's commitment to fostering a supportive and gender-responsive environment for all.
