‎Historians Unite for Peace and Integrity on National Students’ Day

‎November 17, 2025, at the Henry V. Kong Gymnasium, the Historians actively participated in the Peace Rally Against Corruption organized by the MSU-TCTO Supreme Student Council as part of the celebration of National Students’ Day.

‎They collaborated in crafting meaningful slogans that voiced their strong opposition to corruption and emphasized their role as Historians for Peace and Change. Through their unity and dedication, they highlighted the importance of truth, justice, and responsible leadership in shaping the nation’s future.

‎The BA History students of the History Department continue to stand firm in supporting and fighting for truth and the rights of the youth, carrying forward their commitment to peace, justice, and genuine social transformation.

‎Commemoration of the 645th Sheikh Karim’ul-Makhdum Day Highlighted Through Lecture Series

‎In line with the commemoration of the 645th Sheikh Karim’ul-Makhdum Day, a special national working holiday, the Department of History of the MSU-TCTO College of Arts and Sciences, in partnership with the MSU-TCTO College of Islamic Arts and Sciences, successfully held a lecture session on November 7, 2025, at the MSU-TCTO Henry V. Kong Gymnasium.

‎Two speakers shared valuable knowledge during the lecture series for the 645th Anniversary of Sheikh Karim’ul-Makhdum. Prof. Najeeb Rasul A. Sali, PhD, Dean of the College of Islamic Arts and Sciences, delivered the opening message, highlighting the significance of Sheikh Karim’ul-Makhdum’s enduring legacy.

‎The first speaker, Ustadz Benhar T. Arabain, a faculty member from the College of Islamic Arts and Sciences, discussed Pre-Islamic History of the Philippine Archipelago: Society, Culture, and Civilization before Islam. He shared how people lived, their culture, and their society before the arrival of Islam.

‎The second speaker, Assoc. Prof. Abdulhamid A. Eldani, PhD, from the College of Arts and Sciences, presented The Islamization of the Philippine Archipelago. He explained how Islam spread throughout the Philippines and how it influenced the people and the country.

‎Both speakers provided valuable insights into the Philippines before Islam and the spread of the faith, helping participants better understand and appreciate the nation’s rich history and culture.

‎The Chairperson of the History Department, Assoc. Prof. Astridin A. Bernado, delivered the closing message, extending her sincere gratitude to the distinguished speakers, esteemed participants, and dedicated organizers for their invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment to commemorating the legacy of Sheikh Karim’ul-Makhdum.

‎”Seminar on Workplace Ethics and Digital Adaptability: Preparing BA History Future Practitioners for Office Deployment”

‎The Day 2 seminar was held on October 17, 2025, at the MSU-TCTO Marine Science Museum, aiming to prepare BA History interns for their upcoming office deployment by equipping them with essential workplace values, ethics, and digital competencies.

‎The event gathered distinguished speakers who sought to inspire, guide, and prepare future practitioners.

‎In the morning session, Ms. Ana Mae R. Kingking, Staff from the Office of the Chancellor, discussed Professional Workplace Etiquette, emphasizing effective communication, proper dress code, and workplace decorum. She reminded the interns that professionalism is reflected not only in skills but also in manners and respect for others.

‎Mr. Nikko D. Chua, Faculty from the Department of Management, talked about Time Management and Productivity, encouraging the interns to prioritize tasks efficiently and meet deadlines responsibly. He shared practical strategies to maintain focus and balance workloads in a professional setting.

‎Asst. Prof. Rushaida A. Muham, Faculty of the Department of Management, discussed Customer Service and Frontline Interaction, highlighting the importance of courtesy, empathy, and active engagement when dealing with stakeholders and clients.

‎In the afternoon session, Ms. Roddalyn A. Lee, Staff from the College of Arts and Sciences, shared insights on Adapting to ICT in the Workplace, discussing digital tools, communication platforms, and information management practices essential in today’s technology-driven offices.

‎Finally, Mr. Jerimy I. Edubos, Student Coordinator from the College of Arts and Sciences, tackled Ethics and Confidentiality in the Workplace, emphasizing the value of integrity and the responsible handling of information.

‎The speakers expressed their willingness to guide and support the BA History interns as they transition into the professional field, encouraging them to uphold excellence and integrity in their work.

‎The Department of History continues to support its interns by organizing seminars that prepare them for professional environments—enhancing their work ethics, productivity, and digital adaptability as future practitioners.

‎‎”Seminar on Teaching Strategies, Pedagogies, and Lesson Planning among BA History Teaching Interns”

The Day 1 seminar, held on October 16, 2025, at the MSU-TCTO Audio Visual Room, ISL Building, focused on strengthening the teaching competence of BA History interns through discussions on lesson planning, classroom management, and effective teaching strategies.

The event featured invited professional teacher speakers who shared their expertise and practical insights to help future educators enhance their teaching skills and classroom approaches.

Prof. Dr. Mona Allea Matolo-Dima, Faculty of the College of Education, emphasized the importance of designing coherent lesson plan by aligning learning objectives, content, teaching methods, assessments, and instructional materials. She encouraged the interns to plan with purpose and ensure that every activity contributes to achieving learning goals.

Asst. Prof. Roben S. Abdella, Faculty of the College of Arts and Sciences, discussed classroom management strategies and the importance of creating an inclusive classroom environment. He reminded the interns to promote equity, respect diversity, and support students’ social and emotional well-being to foster a positive learning atmosphere.

Assoc. Prof. Nassif S. Talal highlighted effective teaching practices in Social Studies through storytelling, empathy, and real-life connections. He stressed that lessons become more meaningful when students can relate them to real experiences. He also discussed assessment and evaluation of learning, introducing various tools and strategies to help teachers measure progress and reflect on their teaching effectiveness.

Each lecturer provided valuable insights that encouraged the interns to be reflective, creative, and inclusive educators who can inspire learners and make classroom experiences more engaging and impactful.

The Department of History continues to prepare and support its teaching interns by providing meaningful seminars and activities that enhance their teaching competence and readiness for the professional field.

BA History Teaching Interns’ Orientation: Preparing Future Educators

The Department of History successfully held the Orientation for BA History Teaching Interns class of 2025-2026 on November 13, 2025, at the Henry V. Kong Gymnasium, marking the beginning of their journey as future educators.

The session highlighted the guidelines, policies, and professional conduct expected during the internship. Respected school heads also delivered messages of support and encouragement, reminding the interns of the importance of discipline, respect, and commitment to quality teaching. They shared valuable insights on the dos and don’ts in the classroom and inspired the interns to uphold excellence and integrity in their work.

The Dean of the College of Arts ans Sciences, The Department Chairperson and the Department of History faculty likewise expressed their full support and motivation to the interns, emphasizing that teaching is not only about sharing knowledge but also about inspiring others to love and appreciate history.

The orientation served as a meaningful preparation for the interns—equipping them with the confidence, values, and guidance they need as they begin their practice teaching journey.
