The CMS took its first hosting of the MSU-TCTO flag ceremony on 06 April 2026. As part of the program, the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Ladznar S. Laja, delivered his opening remarks. In his speech, Dean Prof. Laja shared updates about the College -- "๐‘Š๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž ๐ถ๐‘€๐‘† ๐‘›๐‘œ๐‘ค ๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘๐‘™๐‘–๐‘ โ„Ž๐‘’๐‘‘, ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘š๐‘Ž๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘š๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘๐‘–๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘  ๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘‘ ๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘Ž๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ ๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘๐‘–๐‘Ž๐‘›๐‘  ๐‘“๐‘–๐‘›๐‘Ž๐‘™๐‘™๐‘ฆ โ„Ž๐‘Ž๐‘ฃ๐‘’ ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’๐‘–๐‘Ÿ ๐‘œ๐‘ค๐‘› ๐‘–๐‘‘๐‘’๐‘›๐‘ก๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘ฆ ๐‘ค๐‘–๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘–๐‘› ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘ˆ๐‘›๐‘–๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘Ÿ๐‘ ๐‘–๐‘ก๐‘ฆ," said the Dean.

Dean Prof. Laja also shared that the College will hold its first-ever colloquium featuring BS Math and BS Stat graduating students presenting their research papers, thereby contributing to the growing number of publication outputs of the College. Some of these graduating students will also be presenting their research papers at the Mathematical Society of the Philippines conference in Pangasinan this June 2026 supervised by some of the faculty members of the College. Strengthening the research collaboration of the College, some of the faculty members are currently on study leave in Japan, Malaysia, MSU-IIT, and De La Salle University.

The Dean also shared that the Data Analytics and Modeling Center proposal, proposed by a Statistics faculty member, was approved at the recent BOR meeting. The College is grateful to the administration, especially Chancellor Prof. Guinto-Sali, for the support.

Wrapping his speech, the Dean emphasized that despite its size, CMS is making a noticeable impact in research across the University. This was corroborated when the Chancellor announced a recognition ceremony for researchers on 10 April 2026 and congratulated the Department of Mathematics for being named as the top-performing department in research across MSU-TCTO.

CMS Celebrates the BOR Approval of the Proposed Data Analytics and Modeling Center (DAMC) of CMS Faculty Member

The proposed Data Analytics and Modeling Center (DAMC) โ€” a proposal by our very own Asst. Prof. Azman A. N**s โ€” has been approved by the MSU Board of Regents during its 1st Quarter Meeting last March 31, 2026.

CMS is deeply grateful to Chancellor Dr. Mary Joyce Z. Guinto-Sali and the MSU Board of Regents for their confidence and support in approving this proposal.

The DAMC is a vision rooted in the belief that Tawi-Tawi and the Bangsamoro deserve world-class computational research infrastructure. CMS stands fully behind this proposal and will continue to support its goals of advancing data science research, training the next generation of researchers, connecting MSU-TCTO to international research networks, and strengthening the University's capacity for national, regional, and global research collaboration โ€” every step of the way, from BOR approval to DBM, and until the DAMC becomes a reality for MSU-TCTO.

We are happy to report to Team Dolphins ๐Ÿฌ that all our agenda submitted to the MSU Board of Regents were approved during its 1st quarter meeting held on 31 March 2026 at the Commission on Higher Education.
