Day two of the 2025 ICIDRRM was largely a well-orchestrated sequence of research presentations from a considerably large participation of academic researchers from the different private and state universities/colleges across Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
The presenters lodged their research papers before a formidable panel of evaluators in the typical peer review process geared towards alignment to the conferenceโs objectives. Guided by the three thematic areas of the conference namely: a) Disaster Risk Education and Curriculum Innovation in Academia, b)University-Community Linkages for Crisis Preparedness and Recovery, and c) Policy, Planning, and Research for Disaster-Resilient Tourism Destinations, academic minds converged in an intelligent dialogue that seeks to address a pressing issue of the present times.
Serving as the highlight of the paper presentations was the announcement of winners in the said activity. University of the Philippines Open Universityโs (UPOU) Dr. Ricardo T. Bagarinao et. al. came away with the Best Paper award for their study, โ๐๐ช๐ด๐ข๐ด๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ ๐๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฑ๐ข๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด ๐ฐ๐ง ๐ข ๐๐ฐ๐ค๐ช๐ฐ-๐๐ค๐ฐ๐ญ๐ฐ๐จ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ณ๐ฐ๐ฅ๐ถ๐ค๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ ๐๐ข๐ฏ๐ฅ๐ด๐ค๐ข๐ฑ๐ฆ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐ช๐ฏ ๐๐ณ๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ค ๐๐ช๐ต๐บ, ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด: ๐๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ญ๐ช๐ค๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ๐ด ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐๐ฏ๐ช๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด๐ช๐ต๐บโ ๐๐ฐ๐ค๐ข๐ญ ๐๐ฐ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต ๐๐ฏ๐ช๐ต-๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐๐ข๐ณ๐ต๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ณ๐ด๐ฉ๐ช๐ฑ๐ดโ. Dr. Ronald Orale of Samar State University (SSU) was awarded as the Best Presenter.
Meanwhile, Lorelei B. Agcanas, et. al. of Isabela State University (ISU)-Main Campus and ESSUโs own, Dr. Anbony D. Cuanico both earned Special Citations from the evaluators for advancing research, innovation, and evidence-based practices in disaster risk reduction through their respective studies presented in the conference.
As a fitting finale, world-renowned science diplomat, Glenn S. Banaguas provided his keynote address by giving special attention to his involvement in the most recent natural disruptions absorbed by Philippine communities barely a few weeks before the conference - the earthquakes in Davao and Cebu as well as the devastation brought by Typhoon Tino in Talisay, Cebu which was followed only a week later by Typhoon Uwan that swept across the Bicol Region and Northern Luzon. Wrapping up the plenary sessions was Ms. Maria Lourdes D. Dela Calzada from the Office of Civil Defense Regional Office VIII, with an information-rich presentation on
