ADSSU holds 2nd Board of Regents Regular Meeting for the 2nd Quarter of CY 2026

September 2, 2026 — Hon. Myrna Q. Mallari, CHED Commissioner and ADSSU BOR Chairperson presided over the 2nd Board of Regents Regular Meeting for the Second Quarter of CY 2026.

Almost 30 items under matters for approval, 50 items under matters for confirmation, and 6 items under other matters classified as finance, admin, academic, policy, and legal matters were acted by the Board.

Atty. James Lee Cundangan, Assistant Solicitor General, attended the meeting as the resource person for the legal matters while Dr. Nelia P. Alibin for the academic matters.

One of the significant items that was approved in this meeting was the Official Logo of ADSSU.

ADSSU Visits TUP to Strengthen a Solid Partnership

Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU), under the leadership of University President Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, together with Board Secretary Tom and Presidential Assistant Therese, paid a courtesy visit to the Technological University of the Philippines (TUP) to seek technical assistance and institutional guidance in the preparation of the documents required for submission to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Central Office.

During the visit, the ADSSU delegation was warmly received on behalf of TUP President Dr. Reynaldo P. Ramos by Vice President and Board Secretary Mona Purganan. The meeting provided an opportunity for both institutions to exchange insights, discuss best practices, and explore practical approaches to ensuring that the University's documentary requirements are complete, accurate, and fully compliant with CHED policies and standards.

The engagement underscores the spirit of collaboration that exists among State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). The Office of the University and Board Secretary (OUBS) participated in the face-to-face Flag Ceremony held on June 1, 2026, marking the start of another week of service and commitment to the university community.

Among the early attendees was Dr. Joy C. Capistrano, University President, who expressed her sincere appreciation to all faculty members, staff, students, and stakeholders whose collective efforts contributed to the successful conversion of Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) into Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU). President Capistrano also extended her gratitude to everyone who played a role in the successful conduct of Palaro tu Agusan 2026, highlighting the dedication, teamwork, and professionalism demonstrated throughout the event.

Dr. Carmelo S. Llanto, University Vice President, likewise conveyed his heartfelt thanks to all individuals and offices that contributed to the success of Palaro tu Agusan 2026. In his message, he also informed the university community of the endorsement of the Results-Based Quality Assurance Team (RQAT) evaluation for the proposed offering of the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Soil Science beginning Academic Year 2026–2027, a significant step toward expanding the university’s academic programs and strengthening its commitment to agricultural education.

The ceremony concluded with the recording of a special video greeting in celebration of the first anniversary of the appointment of CHED Chairperson Shirley C. Agrupis, showcasing the university’s support and appreciation for her leadership and contributions to higher education in the Philippines.

The event reflected the university community’s patritism and shared commitment to excellence, collaboration, and continued institutional growth.

Historical Meeting of the Board of Regents

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Commissioner and Chairperson of the Agusan del Sur State University (ADSSU) Board of Regents, Professor Myrna Q. Mallari, presided over the 1st Regular Meeting of the ADSSU Board of Regents for the First Quarter of Calendar Year 2026.

During the meeting, Chairperson Mallari formally administered the oath of office to the newly appointed Faculty Regent, Hon. Boylen B. Cabag. In a warm and heartfelt moment, Chairperson Mallari fondly referred to Hon. Cabag as “anak,” noting his youthful appearance and expressing her motherly admiration for him.

The Board thoroughly deliberated on and approved nearly all agenda items presented by the University, particularly those concerning Matters Arising, Finance, Administration, Academics, Policy, Legal Affairs, and Matters for Confirmation.

Among the most significant resolutions unanimously approved by the Board was the fresh term of University President Hon. Joy C. Capistrano, reaffirming the Board’s confidence in her leadership and vision for the institution.

The Board also approved several major initiatives, including the establishment of research centers and the implementation of the ROSSS Phase I and Phase II projects, which are expected to further strengthen the University’s academic and institutional development.

The ADSSU administration expressed its sincere gratitude to the members of the Board of Regents for their presence, valuable recommendations, and decisive actions on the matters presented during the meeting. These approvals and initiatives are expected to bring meaningful and lasting benefits to the University’s stakeholders, especially its students, faculty, employees, and partner communities.
