STANDARD OPENING DIMENSIONS | DOOR & WINDOW

We are starting our first Arki Note with a simple yet essential topic: the standard opening dimensions for doors and windows in residential buildings, based on the National Building Code of the Philippines (PD 1096), Rule VIII.

These standards are important in architectural planning and construction, helping us create spaces that are functional, safe, and compliant with building requirements.

A new chapter begins for the new generation of the Architecture Student Association – SJIT.

Introducing ARKI NOTES EDITION, a new weekly learning series brought to you by the ASA–SJIT Multimedia Team.

This initiative comes from the idea of the Multimedia Team to make architecture-related learning more accessible, engaging, and easier to visualize for students. Through creative visuals and simplified information, we aim to turn important Arki knowledge into content that students can easily understand, review, and remember.

Architecture is more than just plans, plates, and designs. It’s also about knowing the codes, understanding the standards, and learning the rules, principles, and construction practices that guide how we design and build. 📐🏗️

Through ARKI NOTES EDITION, we’ll be sharing one architecture-related topic every week, from the National Building Code, Fire Code, Philippine Green Building Code, rules and regulations, standards, construction concepts, and other essential Arki knowledge.

In line with the advisory issued by the 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗟𝗚𝗨 due to the prevailing haze, 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗝𝗜𝗧 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗼𝘄, 𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲. Classes shall shift to 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 to ensure the continuity of instruction.

Consequently, the scheduled 𝗦𝗼𝗳𝘁 𝗟𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗝𝗜𝗧’𝘀 𝟱𝟱𝘁𝗵 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗻𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆 is also 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗳𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲.

FROM INK TO D**K REAL QUICK. The United Architects of the Philippines - Butuan Chapter, alongside UAPSA SJIT, Architecture Student Association - SJIT, and the United Architects of the Philippines Graduate Auxiliary - Caraga (UAPGA Caraga), successfully gathered for an afternoon of sportsmanship, camaraderie, and active recreation.

Architects, graduates, and students traded their drafting pens and blueprints for pickleball paddles at the Evian Pickleball Grounds in Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.

This inter-chapter and multi-generational sports activity served as a refreshing break from the drawing board, strengthening professional bonds and personal connections within the architectural community of the region.

Thank you to everyone who joined, played, and showed up in full spirit. Stay tuned for more collaborative events ahead.

May we remember their courage, sacrifices, and unwavering love for our country, not only today, but every day.💚

UAPSA-SJIT, in collaboration with ASA-SJIT, successfully organized and hosted 𝐁𝐄𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐈𝐍𝐄𝐒: ASCENDING INTO AN UNBOUND ARCHITECTURAL REVERIE, a General Arki Orientation, taking place last August 26, 2026 at the SJIT Multimedia Center (MMC).

The Architecture Department got together, connected with one another, built a community and gained new insight today! 🪼🐋

Special thanks and appreciation was also extended towards our special guest for the afternoon, 𝐀𝐫. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐜 𝐆. 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐜, 𝐔𝐀𝐏, the Chapter President of the UAP Butuan Chapter.
