Mindanao State University–Zamboanga Sibugay Achieves International Milestone as New Member of the Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net)
Mindanao State University–Zamboanga Sibugay (MSU–Zamboanga Sibugay) has officially become a member of the Asia Technological University Network (ATU-Net), marking another significant milestone in the university’s continuing pursuit of internationalization, academic excellence, and global collaboration.
The membership certificate was formally presented on behalf of Prof. Ts. Dr. Mohd Shafry bin Mohd Rahim, Chair of ATU-Net and Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, through Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Ariffin bin Abu Hassan. The recognition warmly welcomed Mindanao State University–Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines, as a valued member institution of the prestigious international academic network.
ATU-Net is an international consortium established through the 8th University Presidents Forum held on August 9, 2016 at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. The network was created to provide a collaborative platform among technological and higher education institutions across Asia. Its mission is to support member universities in achieving world-class quality education and research through strategic international alliances, networking, collaborative teaching and learning, research partnerships, innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development initiatives.
The network aims to connect technology-focused higher education institutions in Asia to strengthen cooperation and produce challenge-driven research with direct benefits to society. ATU-Net also seeks to educate and prepare the next generation of global citizens capable of responding to the challenges of the 21st century.
The inclusion of MSU–Zamboanga Sibugay in ATU-Net strengthens the university’s international engagement and opens opportunities for faculty members, researchers, and students to participate in diverse international programs, collaborative research projects, academic exchanges, capacity-building initiatives, and innovation-driven activities. The membership also enhances the university’s efforts toward attaining globally competitive standards in instruction, research, extension, and innovation.
The university’s acceptance into ATU-Net reflects the strong leadership and vision of Sheila G. Magolama in transforming MSU–Zamboanga Sibugay into a globally connected and world-class institution that empowers communities through quality education, sustainable development, and international partnerships.
This achievement likewise aligns with the university’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), and SDG 13 (Climate Action), through strengthened global academic cooperation and knowledge exchange.
As MSU–Zamboanga Sibugay embarks on this new international journey, the university looks forward to active participation in ATU-Net programs and future collaborations that will further elevate its academic and research capabilities while contributing to regional and global development.
