The first session of the Micro-credential Course: "Mastering Micro-credentials: Design, Evaluation, and Implementation" was successfully concluded last July 15,2023. This course marks a significant step towards transforming the academic landscape by recognizing the value of micro-credentials within the framework of academic degrees. Judge Benjamin D. Turgano (Ret.), the President of the University has extended his full support to the program, opening it to all colleges within the institution, free of charge.

The first session delved into the history of Micro-credentials, examining their evolution and their significance in the contemporary educational landscape including industry and the changing job market demands. Participants were introduced to a comprehensive framework provided by the European Commission, which served as a guide for designing micro-credentials.

Director Fausto introduced to the 37 faculty members the key principles, theories, and curriculum frameworks that underpin micro-credentials in the context of a private and autonomous university. They learned about different typologies of micro-credentials, crediting system and discovered how their respective colleges could open and offer micro-credential courses leading to a recognized degree.

Throughout the session, Director Fausto emphasized the joint effort required to elevate and innovate the delivery of educational services, in terms of research, instruction, and extension through micro-credentialing. The faculty members from all colleges in the university, numbering 37 in total, participated actively in the workshop, demonstrating their commitment to this cause.

The Course promises to revolutionize the educational landscape of the university by empowering students with a practical and flexible pathway to academic success. With the President's unwavering support and the commitment of dedicated faculty members, this initiative is expected and geared to shape the future of education, offering a transformative learning experience.

As the course progresses, participants eagerly anticipate the next session, where they will delve deeper into the intricacies of micro-credential design, evaluation, and implementation. This dynamic approach holds immense potential for bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world applicability, providing students with a well-rounded educational experience.

For further updates on this transformative initiative, stay tuned to the university's communication channels and the upcoming sessions of the Micro-credential Course.
