REPOST | Six HELM Fellows assigned to the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Quality Assurance Office, and the College of Human Ecology presented their consolidated learnings and re-entry plans on Friday, 24 April 2026.
Dr. Jasmen Pasia, Dean of the School of Medical Laboratory Science and Public Health of San Pedro College, reviewed the weekโs activities and discussed plans for programs focused on formalized curriculum governance, operational quality assurance (QA) systems, piloting microcredentials, and impact-driven community engagement.
Dr. Genaro Alderite, Jr., Dean of the School of Business Management, Education, Arts and Sciences of San Pedro College, discussed re-entry plans that include sessions to re-echo the HELM experience, institutionalize program learning outcomes, assess the contributions of the General Education program, and integrate curriculum review exercises.
Dr. Marilou Junsay, Program Chairperson for the PhD in Educational Management Program at Davao del Norte State College, shared insights on microcredentials for fostering sustainable communities, including plans to manage a pilot program, provide faculty training, and strengthen program evaluation.
Dr. Jovelyn Delosa, the Vice President for Academic Affairs at Northern Bukidnon State College, shared insights into the intentionality behind delivering GE programs and microcredentials, as well as plans to establish a lifelong learning center and develop a functional quality assurance (QA) system.
Dr. Nancy Joy Mangansat, the Director for the Curriculum Development and Evaluation at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, discussed lessons on institutional effectiveness through coordinated governance structures and strong QA systems, and outlined plans to improve institutional coordination through stronger QA systems, review processes, and the development of lifelong learning units.
Dr. Rodney Cajimat, the Director for Instruction and Curriculum Development at the Nueva Vizcaya State University. Discussed re-entry plans to engage in flexible, practical, and responsive learning through properly specified microcredentials.
This was followed by messages of commitment to improved governance and QA systems, and the continuing partnership with UPLB from representatives of partner HEIs which are the home units of our Fellows: Dr. Ana Julia Enero, Vice President for Academics, San Pedro College; Dr. Nickel Jean L. Sastine, Dean, Institute of Advanced Studies, Davao del Norte State College; Dr. Rhodora Jugo, University President, Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology; and Dr. Wilfredo Dumale, Jr., University President, Nueva Vizcaya State University.
Also present to witness the ceremony was Dr. Charina Gracia B. Banaay, Assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, who advised fellows on starting well and deliberately building up, as opposed to rushing headlong into transformative change.
Closing the proceedings was Professor Emeritus Virginia Cuevas, with a message of appreciation emphasizing that UP education is founded on a strong GE program and that our partners can benefit from it.
