ISU-San Mateo Takes a Stand: Launching the 18-Day Campaign to End VAWC

In a powerful demonstration of unity and commitment, ISU-San Mateo actively participated in the launch of the 18-day campaign to end Violence Against Women and Children (VAWC). The event commenced with an introduction by Ms. Jenifer L. Subia, the Alternate GAD focal person, shedding light on the significance of Republic Act 9262, commonly known as the law against Violence Against Women and their Children.

Ms. Subia emphasized the pervasive issue of women being placed beneath the societal pyramid, with men often occupying the pedestal. She highlighted the vulnerability of women to violence and stressed the importance of women recognizing their worth and rights. Asserting the protective nature of existing laws, she led the launch, symbolizing the institution's commitment to combatting VAWC.

The banner to end VAWC was raised by Mr. Isagani M. Valerozo, the Dean of the College of Education, and Ms. Jenalyn C. Andres Campus GAD Focal Person. Following this symbolic act, a pledge of commitment was signed by faculty, staff, Government Internship Program (GIP) participants, and a substantial number of students, solidifying their dedication to the cause.

The commitment signing was followed by a dynamic unity dance and a collective photo opportunity, creating a visual representation of the campus's unified stand against VAWC. However, the 18-day campaign didn't conclude there, as additional activities were planned to sustain the momentum throughout the campaign period.

Anticipation built around the eagerly awaited campus-wide faculty and student contests, enhancing engagement and participation. The overarching goal of the 18-day campaign is to champion the equal rights of every woman, fostering an environment free from violence.

Through this campaign, ISU-San Mateo aspires to contribute to a society where every woman and child can live without fear, with their rights and dignity upheld.
