IN PHOTOS: Union of Student Educators - CDO Collective Convenes Pioneering Presidential Election
In a bid to spearhead a stronger, united front for quality education, the Union of Student Educators (USE) - CDO Collective successfully convened its first-ever Presidential Elections on July 15. The pioneering election, held at AVR 8 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, marks a major milestone for collaborative teacher-student leadership in the city.
The event successfully brought together student leaders representing five local institutions: six delegates from Xavier University (XU), four delegates from Capitol University (CU), and two each from Liceo de Cagayan University (LDCU), the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), and Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC).
Masters of ceremonies Jed Baron and Avery Baguio commenced the afternoon's program, which began with a registration and preliminary activities, followed by the welcoming remarks.
The stage was then shared among the participating schools, with each council presenting its newly elected roster of officers. Along with introducing their leadership lineups, the representatives delivered their comprehensive accomplishment reports from the previous school year, giving the body a clear look at each schoolโs victories and programs while setting a strong foundation for the incoming collective.
With the previous year's reports concluded, the program progressed with the presentation of the Election Guidelines, highlighting voting parameters, eligibility rules, and structural procedures.
Afterward, the floor was opened for presidential nominations, where former XU - Teachersโ Guild Council President and Interim USE-CDO President, Mr. Justin Dave Paquit, was put forward for the position.
Mr. Paquit shared his plans and vision for the USE-Collective for the academic year 2026โ2027.
In a decisive ballot vote, Paquit secured the presidency by garnering six votes from the council's core officers, officially establishing him as the pioneering leader of the USE-CDO Collective.
The newly elected president immediately took his oath of office before delivering a heartfelt acceptance message to the collective.
Finally, the program concluded with a commemorative photo session, sealing a historic day for the cityโs future educators.
